AFL Betting – 2020 Premiership Round 12 Matches Picks

Written by on August 11, 2020

With just two weeks of action remaining in the 2020 AFL regular season, it’s time to take a look at the top matchups on the Round 12 docket. League-leading Port Adelaide will hit the road to take on the Geelong Cats while Brisbane will look to dispatch struggling North Melbourne in another pairing. West Coast hosts Hawthorn while looking to make a move up the ladder and last, but not least, streaking St. Kilda will look to avoid the upset against visiting Essendon. Now, let’s find out which teams are offering the best betting value in all four matchups against their AFL odds.

AFL Odds and Picks for Round 12 Matches

Port Adelaide (9-2-0) vs. Geelong Cats (7-4-0)

Geelong is sitting in third place in the AFL standings with 797 points scored and 610 points allowed defensively. The Cats have won two straight and three of four and come into this affair off an emphatic 93-34 blowout road win over St. Kilda on Monday. Port Adelaide sits atop the AFL ladder with 795 points scored and 557 points allowed defensively. The Power have won three straight and come into this matchup off a convincing 93-72 home win over Richmond on Saturday. Geelong is on a nice roll and playing at home, but Port Adelaide has the statistical edge in every significant category and they’ve been the best team in the league all season long.

Brisbane Lions (8-3-0) vs. North Melbourne (3-8-0)

North Melbourne is sitting in 16th place in the standings with 632 points scored and 770 points allowed defensively. The Kangaroos have dropped two straight and eight of their last 10 games overall including an embarrassing 92-35 road loss against Melbourne on Sunday. Brisbane is sitting in second place in the standings with a league-high 800 points scored and 669 points allowed. The Lions have won four of their last five games and come into this one fresh off a 96-72 home win over the Western Bulldogs on Saturday to bounce back from their humbling Round 10 road loss against Richmond. No way does North Melbourne get the huge upset over the league’s best offensive club. This one could be over by halftime!

Hawthorn (4-6-0) vs. West Coast (7-3-0)

West Coast is sitting in fourth place in the standings with 671 points scored and 572 points allowed defensively. The Eagles are on fire, having won six straight games including a 72-50 home win over Carlton on Sunday. Hawthorn is languishing in 15th place in the 18-team standings with 564 points scored and 662 points allowed defensively. The Hawks have lost five of their last six games and come into Round 12 fresh off a low-scoring 48-32 road loss against Fremantle on Monday. With these two clubs heading in polar opposite directions as the 2020 regular season nears its finish, you can rest assured that streaking West Coast will extend their winning ways with an emphatic victory over lowly Hawthorn.

Essendon (5-4-0) vs. St. Kilda (7-4-0)

Saint Kilda is sitting in fifth place in the standings with 782 points scored while allowing 701 points defensively. Unfortunately, the Saints had their five-game winning streak snapped in their embarrassing 93-34 home loss against Geelong on Sunday. Essendon is in 11t place in the standings with 519 points scored and 585 points allowed defensively. The Bombers have lost two straight and three of their last four including a narrow 59-55 home loss against GWS as they await their round 11 clash against St. Kilda on Wednesday night. Despite their horrific loss in the last round, I’m fully expecting St. Kilda to bounce back in a big way in this affair to keep their hopes of reaching the Top 4 alive.
