AFL Betting – Round 12 Odds & Picks for August 15

Written by on August 13, 2020

With the 2020 AFL season steamrolling toward a fast and furious finish with just two weeks remaining before the start of the postseason, it’s time to find out which teams are in action in round 12 and which matchups look like they are offering the best value against their value-packed MyBookie Australian Rules football betting odds. With that said, I’ve got three round 12 matchups in the bullseye. Now, let’s find out where the best value lies in all three contests.

AFL Odds and Picks for Round 12 August 15 Matches

Collingwood (6-4-1) vs. Melbourne (5-5-0)

Melbourne is sitting in 10t place in the standings with 633 points scored and 576 points allowed. The Demons have won two straight and come into this affair off a resounding 92-35 smackdown win over rival North Melbourne on Sunday. Collingwood is sitting in seventh place in the AFL standings with 637 points scored and 549 points allowed defensively. The Magpies have won two straight and come into this clash off a 62-38 road win over winless Adelaide on Saturday. Collingwood has won each of the last four meetings in this rivalry, including a 70-53 road win the last time they met on August 10 a year ago. While this matchup looks like it could go either way, as evidenced by the 1-point spread in this clash, the best wager ofr this Round 12 clash is a simple bet on the Over 110.5 total points. Each of the last five meetings between these two has easily topped this total and this meeting will as well, though I like Collingwood to extend their winning ways in this one!

  • Pick: Collingwood 68 Melbourne 62

Betting Lines

Carlton (4-6-0) vs. Fremantle (4-6-0)

Fremantle is sitting in 14th place in the standings with 508 points scored and 576 points allowed defensively. Still, the Dockers have won two straight ncluding a 48-32 home win over Hawthorn on Monday. Carlton is sitting in 13th place in the standings with 656 points scored and 693 points allowed. The Blues have dropped two straight games and come into this clash off a humbling 72-50 road loss against West Coast on Saturday. With Fremanlte playing at home and feeling good after recording half of their four wins in the last two weeks, I like the Dockers to get the outright win to cover the chalk as a 2.5-point home dog!

  • Pick: Fremantle 66 Carlton 60
  • When: Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 6:10 AM ET
  • Where: Optus Stadium, Perth

Adelaide Crows (0-11-0) vs. Western Bulldogs (5-6-0)

Western is sitting in 11th place in the standings with 652 points scored and 725 points allowed defensively. The Bulldogs have lost three straight and come into this affair off a 96-72 road loss against second place Brisbane on Saturday. Adelaide is in last place in the 18-team standings and remains the only winless team in the league, having scored a league-low 488 points while allowing a league-high 879 points defensively. The Crows’ latest loss in a season full of them was a 62-38 home loss against Collingwood on Saturday. I know the 32.5-point spread looks insanely high, but the fact of the matter is that Adelaide has been absolutely abysmal at both ends of the pitch and has suffered three straight losses of at least 32 points. The Bulldogs are completely desperate to get back on track and they are the easy pick to get the outright win. However, I like lowly Adelaide to cover the high spread, despite suffering another double-digit loss.

  • Pick: Bulldogs 70 Crows 42
  • When: Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 11:05 PM ET
  • Where: Metricon Stadium, Gold Coast
