NASCAR Truck Series 2022 North Carolina Education Lottery 200 Odds Favorites

Written by on May 26, 2022

While the Cup Series drivers spent last weekend having some fun in the All-Star Race, the Truck Series drivers were busy trying to pick up points in the battle for playoff spots. That continues this weekend, with the Truck Series heading to Charlotte for the North Carolina Education Lottery 200. The race for those playoff spots is incredibly tight, so expect the pressure to build with each passing week as we edge closer to the playoff cutoff. As you are going to see from the current odds, we have a Cup Series driver in as the favorite, but can anyone spring the upset and get the win? Let’s take a look at the NASCAR Truck Series Betting favorites to try and figure that out.

NASCAR Truck Series Betting Preview for North Carolina Education Lottery 200 Race

Kyle Busch (-120)

Over the last 3 seasons, Kyle Busch heading into the Truck Series was pretty much a guaranteed lock for bettors. Between 2019 and 2021, he ran in 14 Truck Series races, winning 10 of them. That is a rather extraordinary win rate, but it has not carried over into this season, as he has failed to win in each of his 3 attempts at this level. There are two ways to look at it, which is that he has either lost his ability to win in the Truck Series or that he is long overdue to take a checkered flag. Given how well he has raced in the Cup Series this season, I would suggest that the latter seems the more likely of the options.

John Hunter Nemechek (+500)

If you are going to go with the theory that Busch is going to continue to fail to win at this level, then that is good news, as the odds for the regular Truck Series drivers look very good indeed. In the 9 races run so far, Nemechek has just 1 win, but he also has 6 total top 10 finishes, so this is a driver that tends to always be among the leaders. Given the odds of +500 for Nemechek, we are looking at some serious value when you consider that he won this corresponding race last season.

Ross Chastain (+700)

You can certainly never discount any driver in any race given that so many things can happen over the course of a 200-mile race. This is especially true when you have a Cup Series driver dropping into the Truck Series, but you do have to say that Chastain has not really been that great when he makes that move. Chastain has already had 3 runs in the Truck Series this season and has failed to even crack the top 10. He does have a couple of wins in the Cup Series, so while he would not be my pick to win here, he cannot be totally ruled out.

Zane Smith (+900)

If you are looking for a potential winner at a great price, then I would argue that Zane Smith is the way to go. Yes, he is coming off a poor run last time out, but he has the most wins in the Truck Series this season, taking the checkered flag 3 times already. He ran in the top 10 in this race last season and 3rd the year prior. I would certainly be more than willing to risk a few bucks on Smith getting the win here.
