We are 7 races into the 2022 Formula 1 season, which means that there is a lot of racing still to come before we crown a champion. Charles Leclerc has cooled off a little after delivering a fast start that took him to the top of the driver standings. On the flipside, Max Verstappen is back on top after a slow start, as he looks to take his 2nd straight World Championship. The top 2 are joined by Sergio Perez, who is cutting into the lead and suddenly in the hunt to win it all this season. This weekend, the drivers will be racing in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix as they all go looking for valuable points that will help them get one step closer to becoming the champion of F1. Let’s take a look at the current Formula 1 Odds for this race.
F1 Betting Odds, Analysis and Prediction for the 2022 Azerbaijan GP Race
Max Verstappen (+110)
As we mentioned at the top of this piece, the defending champion was a little slow coming out of the gate this season. It did not take him too long to get rolling, though, as he followed that slow start by winning 3 in a row. That streak came to an end in Monaco, although Verstappen did end up on the podium with a 3rd place finish in the iconic Monaco Grand Prix. He will be looking to get back to winning ways on Sunday, but this is a race where he has not had a ton of success. He finished 19th in this one last year and has been forced to retire on 2 other occasions. 4th is his best finish in this race, so the favorite may be beatable after all.
Charles Leclerc (+175)
With a pair of wins and a 2nd place finish in the first 3 races of the season, Leclerc set a pace that was always going to be tough to maintain. He has had 1 more podium finish since then, but being forced to retire in Spain meant zero points on the board, which is never great for a driver looking to keep pace with the defending champion at the top of the driver standings. Leclerc bounced back with a respectable 4th place finish in Monaco, but he really could use another win to put pressure on Verstappen. He has been steady in this race, albeit without being spectacular, finishing between 4th and 6th in his 3 tries in Azerbaijan.
Sergio Perez (+550)
Coming into this season, Perez made it clear that he expected to be in the World Championship conversation. He finished 4th in 2020 before making the jump to team Red Bull for last season, where he became the teammate of Max Verstappen. He finished 4th again last season, but he has made it clear that he expects more this time around. He had a trio of 2nd place finishes heading into Monaco, where he went out and got the win, which means that he is now just 15 points out of the top spot. He won this grand prix last season, so might we about to see the championship race get even tighter after this weekend?
