2019 Emmy Awards Odds, Preview & Predictions

Event Info

  • When: September 22, 2019
  • Where: Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, California
  • TV: FOX
  • Live Stream: Emmys.com

Outstanding Drama Series

  • Game Of Thrones: -900
  • Killing Eve: +500
  • Better Call Saul: +1800
  • Bodyguard: +2500
  • Pose: +3000
  • Ozark: +4000
  • This Is Us: +5000
  • Succession: +5500
Analysis: There’s a reason why Game Of Thrones is such an overwhelming favorite in this category and it’s because it’s a virtual lock to win this award for Outstanding Drama Series. For example, a whopping 19.3 million viewers caught the series finale while a mind-boggling 17.4 million viewers watched the Season 8 premiere. Hell, the final season trailer was viewed an insane 81 million times in the first 24 hours after its release. No way does Game of Thrones not win this award!Pick: Game of Thrones

Outstanding Lead Actor: Limited Series

  • Jharrel Jerome (When They See Us): -140
  • Jared Harris (Chernobyl): +230
  • Mahershala Ali (True Detective): +550
  • Sam Rockwell (Fosse/Verdon): +1100
  • Benicio Del Toro (Escape at Dannemora): +2200
  • Hugh Grant (A Very English Scandal): +2500
Analysis: If you missed the hit Netflix mini-series When They See Us, then you missed an emotionally-moving story that was as powerful as any film I’ve seen…ever! With that said, I don’t think the odds for this category really reflect the dominance that Jharrel Jerome owns over his peers here.If the 21-year-old Dominican native wins for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie — it would make him only the third black actor to do so in the entire history of the Emmys. For me, Jerome’s dual roles as the younger and older Korey Wise was so realistic, that every time I now see the young actor, I immediately to believe he’s the actual Wise. Jerome put his everything into the role and it tells if you watch the film.“The beauty of acting is that you’re able to bring to life fictional characters in imaginary worlds, but this time, the characters on the page were very real people,” said the actor. “And what Korey went through was unmatched, so I knew that I had to put my heart and soul into the role to do it justice. I felt like I was on a mission.”Pick: Jharrel Jerome

Outstanding Competition Series

  • Rupaul’s Drag Race: -1000
  • The Voice: +850
  • The Amazing Race: +1000
  • Top Chef: +2500
  • Nailed It: +3000
  • American Ninja Warrior: +3300
Analysis: For me, I like American Ninja Warrior above all others in this category even though Rupaul’s Drag race is the clear-cut prohibitive favorite here. I’m feeling like an upset is quite possible in this category, which is why I’m going with The Voice, for the upset win!Pick: The Voice
