2021 F1 Lenovo British Grand Prix Recap

Last year, eventual race winner Lewis Hamilton also won the pole. Max Verstappen started second while Charles Leclerc started third.

Verstappen had to retire after suffering a collision. Leclerc finished second behind Hamilton while Hamilton’s 2021 Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas finished third.

Fourth place went to Lando Norris. Daniel Ricciardo crossed the finish line fifth.

2022 F1 British Grand Prix Betting Analysis

  • To Win: Max Verstappen -110

Earlier this Formula 1 season, it looked as if Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc might challenge Red Bull’s top driver for the championship. Leclerc won 2 of the first 3 events.

But since stepping to the podium’s top level after winning the Australian Grand Prix, Leclerc has fallen back while Verstappen has stepped it up. Max has won 5 of the last 6 races.

Red Bull has gone 6-of-6 because Verstappen teammate Sergio Perez won in Monaco. The defending driver’s champ is so hot that -110 odds make him an overlay. Something drastic must happen, another collision or something similar, to keep Verstappen from winning the British Grand Prix.

  • Second-Place: Sergio Perez +700

Sergio Perez didn’t race all that well at last year’s British Grand Prix. Verstappen’s teammate finished sixteenth.

No doubt, Perez and his crew will perform much better on Sunday. Sergio had to retire in Canada, but he finished second behind his teammate at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

The third choice on the board should be right there at the end. If Verstappen runs into any trouble, there’s a chance Perez wins at better than expected odds.

  • Third-Place: Lewis Hamilton +1400

Mercedes hasn’t had the best luck this season. That could change on Sunday because Lewis Hamilton loves this event.

Hamilton won the British Grand Prix in 2021 and 2020. He also won it in 2019. Also, Lewis finished fourth in Azerbaijan and third at the Canada Grand Prix.

Hamilton and his crew are performing better right now than they have all season. Eventually, Lewis is going to win a race. Hamilton could secure his first checkered flag of 2022 at the British Grand Prix.

  • Best Underdog Play: Lando Norris +12500

At the 2021 British GP, Lando Norris finished more than 28 seconds behind Hamilton. So the chances of Norris winning the 2022 British Grand Prix aren’t great.

But the best underdog play is technically our third choice, which is why Lando gets the call as the best official underdog play. Norris often drives well enough for a top ten finish.

Don’t back Lando expecting to win. But if you want to back a huge underdog, Norris is one of the better plays because he finished fourth in this last year.
