If Formula 1 was anything like a prize fight, the referee might be ready to call a halt to this season. While we did have a close race going on in the driver standings in the earlier stages of the 2022 season, we have now seen one driver basically step on the gas and begin to pull away from the pack. Mathematics tell us that a driver from the chasing pack could well make a run and come good in the latter stages, but the harsh reality is that this thing looks to be pretty much done and dusted. There are still 8 races to come in the season, which means that there are a lot of points still up for grabs, and the final run begins with a visit to the Netherlands for the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend. It’s the usual cast of characters in as the Formula 1 Betting favorites, so let’s take a closer look at those drivers.
F1 Betting Odds, Analysis and Prediction for the 2022 Dutch GP Race
Max Verstappen
Many F1 fans were unhappy with the manner in which Verstappen became World Champion last season, with some going as far as to say that the victory was somehow invalid. I don’t see there being any such arguments this season if Verstappen wins it all again, which it looks like he will. He has been nothing short of brilliant all season long and has already amassed 9 wins in the 2022 season, which includes taking the checkered flag in each of the last 3. As mentioned earlier, there are 8 races to come. If we look at the previous 8, we see that Verstappen won 5 of them, so it’s hard to imagine he will somehow fold in the coming weeks. He also won the Dutch Grand Prix last season.
Sergio Perez
The drivers get all the glory for winning races and championships, but you also need to hand it to the constructors. Is it any coincidence that Sergio Perez has seen his stock rise since moving to Team Red Bull to join forces with Verstappen? Were it not for his teammate, Perez might actually have a shot at winning it all outright. He has just 1 win on the season, but he has also finished 2nd in 6 other races. That is enough to have him sitting behind Verstappen in the overall standings, although he is 93 points off the pace. He ran 8th in this race last season, but I’d certainly take him as a potential top 3 finisher.
Lewis Hamilton
It has been Charles Leclerc who has often been seen as the main contender to the champion this season, but he is now currently heading in the wrong direction. Instead, I am looking at Hamilton, who is having his most disappointing season in a long time, thanks in large part to a poor performance by Mercedes. He was forced to retire in the last race in Belgium, but prior to that, he was on a run of landing on the podium in 5 straight races. I’m not suggesting he will win in the Netherlands, but I think he is a very good bet to land in the top 3 again.
