2015 British Open Championship Golf Betting Preview

If you are a big golf betting fan, this coming weekend would be a good time for a trip to Scotland. The first ever UFC fight to take place in that country will be going this weekend, as will the British Open, which is being held at the famed Old Course at St. Andrews. The golfers are going to have to navigate their way around an always treacherous 7,305 yard Par 72 course, whilst also battling the wind and other elements that are always common on Scotland.

In Depth Look at the 2015 British Open Championship Golf Betting Preview

There are certainly some big stories to discuss ahead of the Championship weekend, and perhaps none bigger than Rory McIlroy having to skip the even. The defending champion injured himself while playing soccer, and will now be forced to watch the action from his sofa. There is no doubt that McIlroy would have been among the favorites to win again, but now the only thing that we can be sure of is that a new Open champion will be crowned sometime late on Sunday afternoon.

The player that most people will be following this weekend is sure to be Jordan Spieth. The world #2 already has the Masters and the US Open under his belt this year, and he will be going all out to try and claim the third leg of the Grand Slam. If he were to get the win, it would definitely make the PGA Championship in August a much bigger deal than it already is. Spieth won the US Open on a course that was very much a links style set-up, so he has proven that he has what it takes to navigate a course as tough as St. Andrews.

Tiger Woods is no longer the dominating player that he once was, and there are many who feel that he will never win another major. That said, he is coming off his best tournament performance in quite some time, and he has also won the Open at St. Andrews a pair of other times (2000, 2005). He will definitely be a longshot coming into the weekend, but if he can hang around and make the cut, there is always the possibility that he might just be able to turn back the clock a little.
