20% winning trainer Mike Maker puts the saddle on Hoponthebusgus for the first time on Wednesday. The 6-year-old mare last raced in a $16,000 claiming event over the grass on Feb. 29. She finished tenth by 2 ½ lengths. Maker wins 32% when dropping off the claim, though. Also, although she finished tenth, she got a good enough speed rating to challenge in this.
If Paint the Corners comes with her “A” game, she should win by 2 to 3 lengths. The Tizway sired 7-year-old mare came with an awesome run in her last but came up short by a length. She could provide a similar run on July1.
Trilby goes first time after the claim for trainer Ruben Gracida. The 19% at the meet winning conditioner gets 17% winners first after the claim. Trilby won the last time she ran off a freshening. So, consider for the win if the top two choices don’t impress.

We’ll try and beat chalk Maserati Man with 7/2 on the morning line Gemo. The Gemologist sired 3-year-old colt finished second in a $50,000 claiming race in his last. When trainer Rohan Crichton and jockey Edgar Zayas pair up, they win at 22%. Gemo should be close enough to take over as they turn for home. The class drop is significant.
Kenny McPeek trained Beyond Green finished second to Frank’s First in his last race. That was at 7 furlongs. The cut-back in distance should aid this one and Beyond Green has enough speed to stick with the front runners.
Maserati Man will offer less than the morning line. The 2/1 chalk blew away $32,000 optional claimers going 6 furlongs in his last. But if Maserati was such a solid pick, why the class drop to open claiming? He’s a must use underneath. But it’s hard to have faith he repeats the last performance.

33% at the meet winning trainer Louie Roussel III saddles 5/2 on the morning line Vincitore. We dislike betting chalk, but the English Channel sired 5-year-old gelding should have no trouble handling these. Louie drops Vincitore from the $30,000 claiming to this $12,500 event. Vincitore should get the job done.
15/1 on the morning line Good Timing Man lost by 58 lengths in its last. The 4-year-old gelding goes back to turf on Wednesday, though. Man shouldn’t be close, but we can’t help but give this one an exacta shot because the turf races are so much better than the dirt races.
Spinning Kitten has a great shot to get into the trifecta. The Kitten’s Joy sired 4-year-old gelding has a win, a second, and a third, from 5 races at the distance. The jockey switch to Miguel Vasquez could help while Kitten figures to get a good trip breaking from post-position 7.
