Race 5 – 4:15 pm ET – 6 Furlongs Dirt – $12,100 Starter Allowance
Trainer Robertino Diodoro has a couple of entrants in this. Freedom Hill looks like the better of the two. The 7-year-old gelding scored first time off the claim for Diodoro. That race was at $6,250. But, really, this isn’t as huge of a step up as one might think. Freedom Hill ran in a $20,000 optional claimer at Turf Paradise back in February. The Summer Bird sired gelding should get a great trip off second choice My Wise Cat.
Like Freedom Hill, Robertino also trains My Wise Cat. A 5-year-old horse, My Wise Cat has a 2-1 record from 3 races at WRD. Overall, the Flashy Wise Cat sired runner has an 8-5-2 record from 27 races. Boxing the two Diodoro runners makes a ton of sense.
15/1 on the morning line Barry Lee can hang on for third. The Randy Morse trained 5-year-old gelding won a $6,250 claimer in its last. Morse had plenty of options on where to run. Randy must believe this one has a shot. This runner could get brave on the front end. Consider for all trifecta slots just in case.

Race 8 – 5:45 pm ET – 6 Furlongs Dirt – $15,000 Maiden Claiming
5/1 on the morning line Jimmy Wynne could keep its odds. The 4-year-old gelding trained by Scott Young drops from maiden special weight to this claiming race. Often, droppers from maiden special to maiden claiming are pounded at the windows. But Wynne breaks to the outside of Rivers of Lite. That’s the horse that figures to get the most play.
There’s a chance Rivers of Lite blows away this field. Trainer Chris Hartman has 2 wins and a third from 3 runners at Will Rogers Downs. Lite ran great in his last, a $12,500 maiden claimer at Oaklawn Park. No way Rivers of Lite doesn’t go off an underlay, though.
Robertino Diodoro trained Mr. Beats improved big-time from its first to second race. The Speightstown sired 3-year-old gelding picks up top Will Rogers Downs rider Ty Kennedy. If neither of the top 2 choices fire, Beats could take this. Consider in all slots on your exotic tickets.

4-year-old filly Hoyam broker her maiden in her last. The front-runner went gate-to-wire. Hoyam breaks from the rail and must contend with speed to her outside. But trainer Steve Asmussen is 21% with last out maiden winners. Jockey Lane Luzzi sticks.
Hoyam’s main competition for the lead is 6-year-old mare Nocturnal Mission. Trainer Scott Young wins 19% off the claim. Mission breaks to the outside of Hoyam, which means Floyd Wethey can see what Luzzi does aboard the top choice. If Nocturnal Mission’s odds drift up from the 2/1 morning line, we should consider for the win.
26% winning jockey David Cabrera will attempt to put Mo Gayle in the catbird seat. The Uncle Mo sired filly should get a nice trip right behind Hoyam and Nocturnal Mission. Cabrera is a great jockey. He’ll make sure this one has a shot at the “W” as they turn for him. Here’s another we must consider using in all 3 spots in the trifecta.
