MLB COVID-19 Update – October 27th Edition

2020 World Series Game 6 & 7

  • When: Tuesday, Oct. 27 – Wednesday, Oct. 28
  • Where: Global Life Field, Arlington, TX

Dodgers have a couple of chances to win the World Series

So far, the two World Series participants have traded wins and losses. That’s why the Dodgers have a couple of chances to win baseball’s top prize.

LAD took Game 1 6-3, Game 3 6-2, and Game 5 4-2. Star ace pitcher Clayton Kershaw won the first and fifth games. Kershaw was close to perfect in Game 1. He threw 6 innings, struck out 8, and walked one. In Game 5, Clayton had a worse performance, throwing 5.2 innings and allowing 2 runs, but it was enough for the Dodgers to escape with a win.

Los Angeles’ best performance happened in Game 3 when their other ace pitcher, Walker Buehler, dominated. Buehler threw for 6 innings, gave up a run, struck out 10 and walked a batter. Because Walker is scheduled to throw in Game 7 on Wednesday, we mustn’t expect the Dodgers to do whatever it takes to win Game 6.

Expect Rays to pull out all stops in Game 6

That could be a mistake, though. Starting pitchers, even those as talented as Walker Buehler, have off days. The Rays, of course, must do whatever it takes to win Game 6. If they don’t win Game 6, there’s no Game 7. So, expect Kevin Cash to send as many flame throwers as it takes to the mound.

Blake Snell throws on Tuesday. He had an okay game versus the Dodgers in the Rays 6-4 win. Snell hopes to put the clamps on LAD and give his squad a chance to win Game 7. Cash has yet to say who will pick up the ball in Game 7. No doubt, the likely starter will be Charlie Morton.

If Morton does get on the mound, he’ll have to make up for a terrible Game 3 performance. Morton allowed 5 earned runs off 4.1 innings. If the 2020 World Series goes to a Game 7, expect Morton to show why he’s one of the best pitchers in MLB.

Dodgers versus Rays first pitch is 8:08 pm ET

The Dodgers and Rays throw first pitch at 8:08 eastern time tonight. While the Rays start Blake Snell, Los Angeles sends Tony Gonsolin to the mound. Gonsolin will pitch just 1.1 innings. Dave Roberts will use the method perfected by the Rays, starting a pitcher, having him throw for 1 to 2 innings, and then using the bullpen.

The plan backfired spectacularly in Game 3. If it works on Tuesday night, the Dodgers become World Series Champions. If it doesn’t, we can expect a Game 7.

Even though the gambit didn’t work for Game 3, the Dodgers head to Game 6 -140 favorites. The Rays are at +120. No matter who you like, make sure to check out odds on World Series Game 6, possibly the final MLB matchup of the year.
