New York Yankees vs Texas Rangers Preview and MLB Lines

In any sport, the teams that tend to do well are those that can put teams away when the opportunity arises. The AL East was one of the tightest divisions in baseball through most of the first half. When some of the teams in the division started to sputter, it was the Yankees who used that opportunity to open up a big lead at the top. They will look to build on that when they head to Texas for a 4-game series with the Rangers. Game 2 of that set is scheduled for Tuesday night, with the Yankees as favorites to win in the online sports betting odds.

New York Yankees vs Texas Rangers Preview and MLB Lines

Date: Tuesday, July 28th, 2015 Time: 6:05PM Venue: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas Opening MLB Odds: NY Yankees -110
The Yankees (55-42) have done a fantastic job of staying consistently good while the other teams in their division falter. They have now opened up a 6.5 game lead at the top, and while they have not been stellar on the road this season, they must like their chances in Texas. New York has been getting performances from a number of unexpected sources, with Alex Rodriguez sitting at the top of that list. He may have just turned 40 years old on Monday, but he has shown no signs of slowing down. He was a one man wrecking crew against the Orioles on Saturday night, hitting three home runs to lead the Yankees to a come from behind win. There is no word yet on who will get the start for the Yankees on Tuesday night. While there has to be some disappointment in Texas (47-50) with the way things have gone this season, this looks like a team that is on the brink of being very good. The Rangers are considered one of the favorites to land Cole Hamels from the Phillies at the trade deadline. If they are indeed able to swing that deal, they would have a starting rotation that has the potential to be one of the best in the American League. Texas are 8.5 games back in the West, and you can bet that they haven’t written this season off just yet. They have now won back to back series, and could start to build some real momentum if they can make it three in a row versus the Yankees. Martin Perez (0-1, 4.90 ERA) will make just his third start of the season on Tuesday night.

Key Betting Trends

  • NY Yankees is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of NY Yankees’s last 5 games on the road
  • Texas is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games when playing NY Yankees
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Texas’s last 5 games when playing at home against NY Yankees

Consider This Before Placing Your Bets

The New York Yankees look like a team in a mission right now, and they will be looking to open up an unassailable lead. Beating teams under .500 is a great way to pad those stats, and I think the Yankees will be able to get the win in this one.
