NL MLB Weekend Picks – June 30th to July 1st

The awesome 2018 MLB Season continues with great games on both Saturday and Sunday. Here’s a rundown of the 3 most intriguing MLB betting matchups in the National League over the weekend.

NL MLB Weekend Picks (June 30th, July 1st)

Saturday, June 30

Colorado Rockies at Los Angeles Dodgers

Dodgers’ starter Kenta Maeda heads to the mound after what are saying was his best performance in the past couple of seasons. Maeda rocked the Chicago Cubs in his last. He held the Cubs to 3 hits in 7 innings. How many runs did the Cubbies score versus Maeda? Zero.  Zilch. Nada. Maeda could bounce after such a stunning performance. Colorado only bats .218 versus Maeda. But, the Rockies can launch’em when the middle of their order gets going. On the flip side, Rockies’ starter German Marquez hasn’t produced winning efforts in a while. The Rockies are a terrible 1 and 4 straight up in Marquez’s last 5 starts. Marquez has been strong against Dodger batters, though. Justin Turner hits .182 while Cody Bellinger is 1 out of 12. I’ll take the dog. MLB Betting Pick:  Colorado Rockies

Atlanta Braves at St. Louis Cardinals

Are the Cardinals a safe bet to win this Weekend? The Braves are a solid squad this season. One of the reasons why is because pitchers like Brandon McCarthy, whom gets the start on Saturday, have had quality starts. Unfortunately for McCarthy and Atlanta, the Braves are only 1 and 4 in the last 5 games that McCarthy has started. McCarthy holds St. Louis to a less than .200 batting average, though. St. Louis starter Luke Weaver hasn’t faced Atlanta batters. That gives him an edge. Not only that, but St. Louis has managed Luke’s innings incredibly well lately. The home team should take it. MLB Betting Pick:  St. Louis Cardinals

Sunday, July 1

Washington Nationals at Philadelphia Phillies

Nats versus Phillies on Sunday should end up a great pitchers duel. D.C. sends Gio Gonzalez to the mound. Gio’s had a decent season. He hasn’t been as good as he was last season. But, more often than not, he’s pitched well. Philadelphia has never had success versus Gonzalez. That can’t be said for the same about National batters versus Jake Arrieta. Arrieta yields a .277 batting average to Washington. The Nats should win this one by at least 2 runs because even if Arrieta pitches well, Philly doesn’t have much in the way of a bullpen. MLB Betting Pick:  Washington Nationals
