San Diego Padres vs Colorado Rockies MLB Odds PreviewDate/Time: Friday August 14, 6.40pm Venue: Coors Field, Denver, Colorado TV: Fox Deportes San Diego, FSSD Radio: Rockies Radio Network Opening MLB Odds: San Diego 10.5, Colorado 10.5 The San Diego Padres (54-61) have had problems keeping opponents off the board all year long, and have been particularly hurt by the long ball. They have already long since surpassed the number of home runs they gave up last year, and the 2015 number looks set to grow with their pitching staff seemingly unable to keep the ball in the park. The Padres last 4 series have been against teams with sub .500 records, yet they only managed to go 5-8 during that stretch. When you take all of that into account, it really shouldn’t be a surprise to see them sitting 11.5 games off the pace in the NL Wild Card race. At this stage of the season, they are essentially only playing for respect, and are getting very little of it. Tyson Ross (8-9, 3.39 ERA) will be on the mound for the Padres on Friday. The Colorado Rockies (47-65) are a distant last in the NL West, but you have to give them some credit for at least trying to put up a fight. They took 2 of 3 from the Washington Nationals, and while they are on the brink of being swept by the New York Mets, they have by no mean been embarrassed over the 4 games. They have done a pretty good job of keeping the Mets offense in check, but their inability to get anything going offensively has been what has killed them in that series. When you look ahead at their remaining schedule, the Rockies have multiple chances to play the spoiler, and you can bet that this is a team that no-one will be looking beyond when they play them. Yohan Flande (2-1, 3.86 ERA) will be the starting pitcher for the Rockies in this one.
