The lead atop the division is not just dependent upon how well a team is playing at any given time. How the other teams in the division perform also has a major impact, and it’s fair to say that the Houston Astros have had the benefit of some poor from the teams trying to run them down. They need to focus on their own form, though, and they have a 10-game home stand to help them make that happen. They will face the Tampa Bay Rays at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday in MLB betting

Brief Look at the Tampa Bay Rays at Houston Astros MLB Betting Preview & Game Info

Date/Time: August 18, 6:10pm Venue: Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas TV: Sun Sports, MLBN,  Root Sports Radio: WGES 680, WDAE 620 AM, 95.3 FM MLB Odds: Houston Astros -160 The Astros (64-54) have certainly enjoyed playing at home this season, and have a 40-19 record there to prove it. They have been able to flash some real power at home, but have seen their pitching staff perform better on the road. What all of that means is that we are usually treated to some high-scoring games whenever visitors come to town. The Astros limped home after going just 2-7 on their most recent road trip, but they did well to bounce back from that, taking 2 of 3 from the Detroit Tigers at Minute Maid Field. They have a tough schedule ahead of them, and they are going to have to make the most of this home stand if they hope to hold off the charging Texas Rangers. Scott Feldman (5-5, 4.07 ERA) threw a gem in his last start, and will be hoping for more of the same on TuesdayThe Tampa Bay Rays (58-59) playoff hopes took a real body blow after being swept by the Texas Rangers in their last series. The Wild Card is realistically their only way in right now, and they are currently 2.5 games off the pace, and with a number of teams sitting ahead of them. That sweep came at the start of a 10-game road trip that could very well go a long way towards deciding if they have what it takes to make it to the postseason. The road has not been kind to the Rays in the second half, as they have dropped more than their fair share of games away from home, and oftentimes against teams that they really should be beating. Jake Odorizzi (6-6, 3.09 ERA) will be the man charged with trying to halt the slide. Odorizzi has not picked up a win on the road since back at the end of May.

Key Baseball Betting Trends

  • Tampa Bay is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing Houston
  • Tampa Bay is 10-2 SU in its last 12 games when playing on the road against Houston
  • Houston is 11-2 SU in its last 13 games at home
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Houston’s last 5 games

Consider This Before Placing Your Bet

The Astros are about as close to impossible to beat at home as it gets. Combine that with the fact that the Rays hate the road and you get what I believe will be an Astros win.
