Houston vs Texas MLB Odds Preview

There are a lot of big series still to be played in the final couple of weeks of the season, but you would be hard pressed to find one as important as the match-up between the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros this week. The AL West, and potentially even a playoff spot hangs in the balance as these two slug it out. The third game of this 4-game series is set for Wednesday night at Globe Life Park in Arlington where Houston is a clear favorite on MLB odds.

Houston Astros vs Texas Rangers MLB Odds Preview

Date: Wednesday, September 16, 2015Time: 8:05PMVenue: Globe Life ParkOpening Line: Houston -135  If the Rangers (76-67) can pull it off, their winning of the West will be a feat that a good many people did not see coming. Even when Cole Hamels was brought into the fold, the feeling was that it was a move that was made with next season in mind. A Wild card spot would have been considered a nice bonus at that point, but after beating Houston 5-3 in game 1, the Rangers are now just a half game back of their division and state rivals. There really is little margin for error here, as the Rangers are just a single game ahead of the Minnesota Twins for the final Wild Card spot. The team that wins this series will have the ability to control their own destiny through the final run of games, and that is all you can really ask for at this late stage of the season. Martin Perez (2-5, 5.43 ERA) is coming into this game having lost his previous 2 starts.“Houston, we have a problem,” is a phrase that must be playing on an eternal loop in the heads of all the Astros (77-67) players and fans right now. Heading into this all-important match-up, the Astros had only won 1 of their previous 5 series, but more importantly, they dropped a bunch of games to teams that are in the Wild Card chasing pack. If the Ranges do what they did to the Astros in early August, which was to sweep them, then the Astros may find themselves on the outside looking on at the playoff picture, with only a handful of games still to be played. There is still one more series with Texas to come before the season ends, and what may also prove to be a crucial one against the LA Angels. Time is running out quickly, and the Astros need to get back to winning, right away. Dallas Keuchel (17-7, 2.22 ERA) may just be the man to get things headed in the right direction.
