With the 2017 MLB regular season steamrolling toward a fast and furious finish, MLB bettors everywhere need to know which National League ballclubs are legitimate MLB odds contenders to win this year’s Pennant in and which ones are nothing more than wanna’ be pretenders not worthy of a wager to represent the NL in the 2017 World Series.Thankfully, that’s where I come in with my expert analysis on just which teams have the best MLB lines to win the NL Pennant this season. With a full slate of action taking place on the field and in the MYBookie.ag sportsbook, let’s get started.

Updated MLB Odds to Win NL Pennant – September 12th

The Favorite

Los Angeles Dodgers 1/1

What in the name of Fernando Valenzuela is going on with the Los Angeles Dodgers (92-51)? After clearly being the best team in all of baseball while looking like a team that could challenge the all-time mark for victories in a regular season, the Dodgers have fallen on some hard times lately. L.A. has lost 11 straight at the time of this writing while getting swept by the NL West division rival Diamondbacks twice and the Rockies. Things are so bad that the Dodgers have lost with staff ace hurlers Clayton Kershaw and Yu Darvish on the mound while averaging an MLB-worst 2.4 runs per game during their losing stretch.MLB Odds: 1/1Upcoming MLB Schedule
  • September 15-17 @ Washington Nationals
  • September 18-21 @ Philadelphia Phillies
  • September 22-24 vs. San Francisco Giants
  • September 25-27 vs. San Diego Padres
  • September 29-October 1 @ Colorado Rockies

The Top Contenders

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs (77-66) don’t look like they’re going to defend their NL Pennant or World Series title to me, seeing as how they’ve gone 4-6 over their last 10 games at the time of this writing. The good news is that Chicago still has more talent on their roster than any team in baseball and their pitching staff ranks fourth in opponent batting average (.239) while their offense ranks eighth in runs scored (707). They’ll be dangerous once October rolls around, just not as daunting as they were a year ago.MLB Odds: 3/1Upcoming MLB Schedule
  • September 15-17 vs. St. Louis Cardinals
  • September 19-20 @ Tampa Bay Rays
  • September 21-24 @ Milwaukee Brewers
  • September 25-28 @ St. Louis Cardinals
  • September 29-October 1 vs. Cincinnati Reds

Washington Nationals

Somehow, some way, the Washington Nationals (88-55) have largely flown ‘under the radar’ despite being one the best teams in all of baseball all season long. The Nats and their starting pitchers rank first in all of baseball in quality starts (91) and sixth in team ERA (3.83) while their batting order is third in runs scored this season (748) and second in slugging percentage (.456).MLB Odds: 3/1Upcoming MLB Schedule
  • September 15-17 vs. LA Dodgers
  • September 19-21 @ Atlanta Braves
  • September 22-24 @ NY Mets
  • September 25-27 @ Phillies
  • September 28-October 1 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Are the Nationals a safe bet in the MLB odds to win the NL Pennant?

Playoff Hopefuls

Arizona Diamondbacks

The D-Backs (83-60) have won seven of their last 10 games and sit just nine games in back of the Dodgers. Arizona ranks seventh in runs scored this season (714) and seventh in slugging percentage (.442) and have seen right fielder J.D. Martinez (37 HRs) blossom into a legitimate superstar as evidenced by his four homer game against the reeling Dodgers last week.MLB Odds: 7/1Upcoming MLB Schedule
  • September 15-17 @ San Francisco Giants
  • September 18-20 @ San Diego Padres
  • September 22-24 vs. Miami Marlins
  • September 25-27 vs. San Francisco Giants
  • September 29-October 1 @ Kansas City Royals

Colorado Rockies

The Rockies (79-65) are fighting an uphill battle to get into the postseason as they sit in third place in the NL West behind the Dodgers and D-Backs, but they’re lurking and have won seven of their last 10 games, including a four-game sweep of the Dodgers. Colorado has pounded the ball offensively to the tune of 738 runs scored (fifth) and a .272 team batting average (second).MLB Odds: 25/1Upcoming MLB Schedule
  • September 15-17 vs. San Diego Padres
  • September 19-20 @ San Francisco Giants
  • September 22-24 @ San Diego Padres
  • September 25-27 vs. Miami Marlins
  • September 29-October 1 vs. LA Dodgers

Upset Special

St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals (75-68) are on fire at the perfect time and have won eight of their last 10 at the time of this writing to move just two games behind the Cubs in the NL Central. While St. Louis has been mostly mediocre at the plate this season, the Cardinals are ranked third in quality starts (78) and seventh in team ERA (3.86). better yet, St. Louis still has seven games remaining against the Cubs including three this weekend at Wrigley Field.MLB Odds: 33/1Upcoming MLB Schedule
  • September 15-17 @ Chicago Cubs
  • September 19-21 @ Cincinnati Reds
  • September 22-24 @ Pittsburgh Pirates
  • September 25-28 vs. Chicago Cubs
  • September 29-October 1 vs. Milwaukee Brewers
