NASCAR 2022 Ag-Pro 300 Betting Favorites, Analysis and Picks

Written by on April 21, 2022

It often takes a few races for the clear favorites to emerge at the start of any new NASCAR season, and while this one has been a little more unpredictable, we are seeing the cream begin to rise to the top. This weekend, the NASCAR circus will be in Talladega for another big few days of racing. We have you covered with all the action, but for the purposes of this piece, we are going to focus on the Xfinity Series and the Ag-Pro 300, which will start at 4:30 PM EST on Saturday afternoon. Let’s now take a look at the current top 4 drivers in the Xfinity Series to see if they can stay on top after this weekend so you can bet against their NASCAR Xfinity Series Odds.

NASCAR Xfinity Series Betting Preview for Ag-Pro 300 Race

AJ Allmendinger

This is familiar territory for all the drivers who raced in the Xfinity Series last season, as we had a pair of races there in 2021. Allmendinger heads to the iconic track with the lead in the driver standings, with 1 win already under his belt. It has been a season of consistency for Allmendinger to this point, as he has yet to finish outside the top 10 in each of the 8 races to this point, which includes 3 other podium finishes besides his win. While he did not have a great run at Talladega in the 2nd run there last season, he did finish 3rd in this corresponding race.

Ty Gibbs

If you want to talk about consistency in the early going of the 2022 season, you need to be talking about Ty Gibbs. This young driver has thrown down the gauntlet to the more experienced drivers, winning 3 of the first 8 races of the season. He only races part-time in the Xfinity Series in 2021, skipping both of the races at Talladega. With little to go on in regards performances at that track, it’s tough to make a proper prediction, but the way he is racing right now, you certainly cannot count Gibbs out this weekend.

Noah Gragson

Getting off to a fast start is always great, but as we have seen in the past, maintaining that pace over the course of a long NASCAR season is always tough. That is what Gragson is finding out right now after a ridiculously good start. Gragson landed on the podium in each of the first 4 races of the season, which included a win in Phoenix. He has cooled off somewhat since then and will be looking to bounce back and get back on track this weekend. In this race last season, Gragson finished in 6th, so a pretty good chance that he will be among the leaders at the end.

Brandon Jones

While Jones has been good in the last couple of years in the Xfinity Series, but there is a sense that he could potentially take a big step forward in 2022. He did okay through the first 7 races, but he really made his mark in the last race, taking the checkered flag at Martinsville last time out. He did not have a great run in this corresponding race last season, but he will be carrying the momentum from his win over into this race.
