Last weekend, we got an example of how quickly things can change in the Cup Series Playoffs. This time last week, we were talking about how Chase Elliott had fallen down to 7th and perhaps feeling the pressure with the next cut just around the corner. He put all of that to rest last weekend by getting the win that punched his ticket into the Round of 8. That next cut will come after the Bank of America Roval 400 in Charlotte this coming Sunday, so this is very much a do or die type of race for the drivers who are still on the bubble in the Round of 12. The bookies have the odds for this race posted on the board, so let’s take a closer look at some of the NASCAR Betting favorites.
NASCAR Cup Series Betting Preview for the 2022 Bank of America ROVAL 400 Race
Chase Elliott (+430)
With his win last weekend, Elliott forced his way into the Round of 8, while also emerging as the clear favorite to win his 2nd Cup Series Championship in the last 3 years. He will be well aware that there is still work to be done before he can claim another title, but will he relax a little this weekend knowing that he is moving on? One thing worth noting here is that Elliott won this race in 2020 on his way to winning the championship, so might this serve as a sign if he wins again this weekend?
Tyler Reddick (+590)
A trend that we saw in the early part of the playoffs was drivers who missed the cut picking up wins in the early going. Tyler Reddick was one of the drivers to deliver the goods, and the bookies seem to think that he might be able to repeat that performance again this weekend. He will not be moving on, but he definitely has the chance to play the role of spoiler on Sunday. Last season in this race, Reddick finished 2nd, while also landing in the top 5 in an earlier race in Charlotte this season.
Kyle Larson (+770)
Last season’s champion is still in the playoff picture, but Larson is currently sitting down in 6th and not assured of making the Round of 8. Coming down the stretch last year, Larson went on an incredible run, winning 4 of the last 5 races. That run began on this track and in this specific race, so might he be able to get a hot streak going again at just the right time? If you look at his last 3 races on the Charlotte track, you will see that Larson has won twice, so he might be the man to go with on Sunday.
AJ Allmendinger (+1125)
The veteran driver made the move to the Xfinity Series a couple of seasons ago and is very much in the hunt to win a championship there this season. He is pulling double duty this weekend, though, and will be dropping into the Cup Series for this race. Why would he be considered a favorite here? The simple answer is that he has won 3 in a row on this track in the Xfinity Series, so why not in this one?
