NASCAR 2022 Cup Series: Go Bowling at The Glen Betting Favorites & Odds Analysis

Written by on August 19, 2022

You don’t want to say that it’s time to push the panic button, but for the drivers sitting below the playoff line in the Cup Series, the final 2 races of the regular season are critical. As happens every year, we are going to see a mad scramble to land in the top 16, and while some drivers will rise, others will crumble under the pressure. If you want an idea of just how quickly things can change over the course of a pair of races, just look at Kevin Harvick. He was sitting below the cut line a few weeks ago, but he has now won back-to-back races to all but secure a playoff spot. Can he make it 3 in a row or will one of the current favorites win? Let’s take a closer look at the NASCAR Odds.

NASCAR Cup Series Betting Preview for the Go Bowling at The Glen Race

Chase Elliott (+275)

With just two races to go, it’s fair to suggest that Elliott is going to end up being the champion of the regular season. While that’s certainly a great accomplishment, he’ll be the first to tell you that it’s a small victory in the grand scheme of things. Right now, it’s all about getting hot and going into the postseason with some momentum, which Elliott is certainly doing. He has 3 wins over the last month and a half and is in as the favorite this weekend because of that and his history in road races. Both of his wins in 2021 came on a road course, plus he finished 2nd in this corresponding race last year.

Ross Chastain (+710)

From essentially out of nowhere, Ross Chastain has become a potential winner of the Cup Series in 2022. He is currently sitting in 2nd overall, which I don’t think very many fans saw coming. That said, he has gone a little cold in recent weeks and could use a boost heading into the postseason. While he may not be in the best form at the moment, it is worth noting that 1 of his 2 wins this season came on the road course at the Circuit of the Americas. This may well be the perfect opportunity for Chastain to get his season back on track.

Kyle Larson (+770)

If you are looking at Larson’s performances this season and thinking of looking elsewhere for a winner this weekend, you may want to hold off for just a moment. He will be dipping into the Xfinity Series race on Saturday, and if he does well in that one, he might well suddenly become the favorite for a lot of people on Sunday. If you need some more proof that he could be a factor in this race, then just look at what he did last season, coming away with the win at Watkins Glen.

Denny Hamlin (+810)

Despite winning a couple of races in 2022, I think we can all agree that it has not been a great season for Hamlin to this point. On a positive note, though, there are signs that he might be gearing up for a playoff run, as he has landed in the top 5 in each of the last 2 races. Let’s not forget that he has made it all the way to the final four in each of the last 3 seasons, so perhaps he is just warming up for the bigger challenge ahead.
