NASCAR 2022 Cup Series: Quaker State 400 Betting Favorites & Odds Analysis

Written by on July 8, 2022

There is a fantastic battle going on at the top of the Cup Series driver standings, but everyone is well aware that while closing out the regular season on top is great, it really is all about what happens in the playoffs. The race for points continues this weekend, with the driver heading to Atlanta for the Quaker State 400. There are just 8 races, including this one, before we get the playoff cut down to the last 16 drivers. For those sitting down below the playoff line, time is running out to make a move. They don’t necessarily need to win, but they do need to start racking up points. Let’s now take a look at the current NASCAR Betting favorites for the Quaker State 400.

NASCAR Cup Series Betting Preview for Quaker State 400 Race

Chase Elliott (+540)

This is the stage of the season when drivers like to get on a roll, and you have to say that it’s exactly what Chase Elliott is doing right now. He picked up his second win of the season in Nashville a couple of weeks ago before finishing 2nd in the Road America race last weekend. That’s a lot of points, and it’s why Elliott continues to lead the pack atop the driver standings. Strangely enough, Elliott has not been particularly great when racing in his home state, with hos best run at the Atlanta Motor Speedway being 5th back in 2017. That current form, though, is hard to ignore.

Kyle Larson (+590)

While Larson is not setting the pace he did last season, when he went on a tear and won the Cup Series, he is still up among the leaders, sitting 4th in the driver standings. There are some signs that a turnaround may be coming, though, as he has finished in the top 5 in each of the last 2 races. He ran 18th in this corresponding race in 2021, but he did finish 2nd in an earlier run in Atlanta last season. Larson only has 1 win on the season, so he is certainly long overdue.

Ross Chastain (+710)

Given his previous efforts on the Atlanta Motor Speedway, it might be a little surprising for some to see Chastain in among the favorites this weekend. He has 2 wins on the season, including a big one at Talladega, but he has been particularly hot of late, landing in the top 10 in 7 of his last 9 races. That’s a run of form that has him all the way up to 3rd in the driver standings, just 35 points out of the top spot. While his form at Atlanta is a little concerning, you cannot look past how consistently good he has been this season.

Kyle Busch (+800)

For a while, it looked as though Busch was going to take a run at the top spot in the Cup Series driver standings, but he has cooled off dramatically over the last 3 races. Through those 3 runs, his best finish was 21st, but given his earlier form, you do get the sense that this might well be a minor blip on the radar. This may be the opportunity for him to get back on track, as he finished top 5 in both races in Atlanta last season.
