We are getting to the stage of the NASCAR season where it makes sense to start talking about the playoffs. In the Xfinity Series, we are 18 races into the season, which means there are 8 to come before the field is cut to 12 drivers. The drivers sitting at or near the top look to have already punched their ticket to the playoffs, but things are a good deal tighter down near the cut line. Points are at a premium right now, and every driver will want to get the best position they can before the regular season draws to a close. This weekend, the Xfinity Series will be in Pennsylvania and the Pocono Raceway to run the Explore the Pocono Mountains 225. Let’s take a look at some of the potential NASCAR Xfinity Series Betting favorites for this race.
NASCAR Xfinity Series Betting Preview for Explore the Pocono Mountains 225 Race
Ty Gibbs
If you look at the current driver standings, you see that only 7 of the regular Xfinity Series drivers have picked up a win this season. It is Gibbs who leads the way with 4 wins, which is good enough to have him sitting in the #1 spot. As good as all of that is, Gibbs has not been particularly great in the last races, failing to even crack the top 20 in either of those runs. This is the first full season in the Xfinity Series for Gibbs, so it is perhaps not that surprising to see him struggle a little in a few races. He did race in Pocono last season and finished 2nd there, so definitely one to watch this weekend.
Justin Allgaier
If you are a NASCAR fan and have consistently wagered on Allgaier to win the Xfinity Series, you are probably more than a little frustrated at this point. Allgaier has proven to be the nearly man in NASCAR, as he has consistently finished in the top 5 in the driver standings in his time in the Xfinity Series. Given that, he would definitely be a popular champion and he is once again flirting with winning it all. He has 3 wins on the season, including a victory last weekend. He has had a few podium finishes over the years at the Pocono Raceway, including a 3rd place finish last year.
AJ Allmendinger
Last season proved to be a good one for Allmendinger after jumping from the Cup Series to become a full-time Xfinity Series driver. He closed out that first season with a 4th place overall finish after a disappointing run in Phoenix to close out the year. He is back in the hunt again this season, sitting 3rd overall in the driver standings after winning 2 races on the season. Allmendinger had a top 5 finish at Pocono Raceway last year, and given that he is overdue for a win, he might be a good bet here,
Noah Gragson
No one started the season better than Gragson, but things have not gone so well of late. He has now gone 9 races without a win and has also been docked 30 points for his part in a crash in an earlier race this season. That has not had a major impact on the overall standings, as he remains in 4th, which is where he was prior to the points being docked. He finished 4th in this corresponding race in 2021, and while not in the best of form, he is not a driver I would ignore.
