While the Eastern Conference is beginning to look as though it is taking shape ahead of the playoffs, the race in the West is a little more up in the air. The Houston Rockets hold the 3rd spot at the moment, but just 3.5 games separate them from the surging San Antonio Spurs in 7th. There is a definite chance that some position shuffling will take place before the season ends, making the match-ups between the teams in the playoff fight all the more important… especially when it comes to NBA betting.

NBA Betting Analysis and Game Preview

There is a big game on tap on Wednesday night, as the 5th ranked Los Angeles Clippers head to Oklahoma City to take on the 8th ranked Thunder. It has been a bit of a roller coaster ride for the Clippers since losing Blake Griffin to a staph infection in his elbow, but they have still managed to claw out an 8-5 record in his absence. There is still no official word on when he will return to the line-up, so the Clippers are going to continue to have to try and find ways to win without him. They were able to get back to winning ways with an 89-76 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night. That helped somewhat ease the pain of back to back losses to Portland and Golden State in the games before that victory. You often hear that one man does not make a team, but try telling that to the fans of the Oklahoma City Thunder. This is a team that was expected to be a contender in the West, but who instead have spent a majority of the season out of the playoff picture. They are right back in it now, and it’s all thanks to the play of Russell Westbrook. Since winning the MVP at the All-Star Game and watching teammate Kevin Durant go down with injury, Westbrook has been in beast mode. He has had 5 triple-doubles in his last 6 outings, and hasn’t let a mask worn due to facial surgery slow him down in any way. The Thunder will go as far as Westbrook can carry them the rest of this season.

The Thunder blew out the Clippers 131-108 in their last meeting, but in fairness, that was the first game that OKC played without Griffin in the line-up. That said, I still believe that the home court edge and the play of Westbrook right now will be enough to get the Thunder the win here, just not as comfortably.
