Houston vs Denver NBA Odds Favorite

When coming up with a game preview, one of the first things that writers do is look at the stats and NBA odds of both teams involved. Included in that is their current form, as this can give a pretty good indication of how things might go. The problem with doing that at this time of the year is that the scores and stats don’t really tell the whole story. The Denver Nuggets, who travel to Houston to face the Rockets on Thursday night, are a perfect example of that.

NBA Odds Analysis and Game Preview

The Denver Nuggets are essentially at the point where they are simply playing out the season, as they are as good as dead in the Western Conference. Look at their current form and you might get the idea that they are playing better now that the pressure is off. They have won 4 of their last 5, with wins against top teams included in the mix. They have knocked off Atlanta, Golden State, and Memphis during this stretch, and while that seems impressive at first glance, it’s not quite as great when you see that the top teams were resting a few of their best players in those games. Sure, you still have to win against a squad that is a good deal deeper than your own, but it does take a little bit of the shine off of those wins. The Houston Rockets are next up for the Nuggets, and they are a team that does not seem ready to start sitting guys down just yet. They still have a solid shot at moving up to 2nd in the West, which would give them an easier first round match-up in the playoffs. The Rockets have been struggling to find their consistency coming down the stretch and are on a win 2/lose 2 run right now. They have a chance to break out of that by beating the Nuggets on home courts, as that would take their current win streak to 3. They have another winnable game against Phoenix at home before heading on the road, and they could find themselves in a much more stable position in the conference standings by winning both of those.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bet

You cannot discount the home court record (25-9) that Houston has put together this season so far. You also cannot ignore the less than impressive road record (10-23) of the Nuggets. Houston have a whole lot more to play for at this stage of the season, which should be enough in itself to see them past Denver.
