It’s a new season for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Nick Saban led his squad to the National Championship game last season, but came up empty, as the Georgia Bulldogs were finally able to overcome the powerful Tide. As Alabama does every year, they reload rather than rebuild. Saban has another fine group of five-star recruits to replace the players that have left.

The one main piece that returns is Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Bryce Young. Young will be under center for his sophomore season, and he should once again be surrounded by a very talented group. The defensive side of the ball will also be very talented, as Alabama once again should have one of the top defenses in the nation. The Oddsmakers Have Spoken!

The oddsmakers aren’t as high on Alabama as they have been in the past. Last season they set Alabama’s win total prediction at 11.5. This season they aren’t as sure about the Tide as the number has been set at 10.5. With the other SEC teams catching up to Alabama by enticing student-athletes with NIL deals, the playing field has become a little more even.

With that being said, Alabama may have a little tougher time this season. Let’s take a look at their season schedule.

And Their Opponents…..

In Week 1, Alabama will host Utah State. It will be a good game to open up with, as Saban’s squad will have a lot of new faces on the field. This shouldn’t be much of a challenge for Alabama.

Week 2 could be a different story. Alabama will head to Texas to visit old friend Steve Sarkisian and his Longhorns. Texas has been a mystery over the last few seasons. If they can find a quarterback, they’ll be a decent team, but no one is really sure about them this season.

Weeks 3 and 4 shouldn’t pose much of a challenge for Alabama, as they host the University of Louisiana-Monroe, and Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt has a long way to go before they become relevant in the SEC.

Weeks 5 and 6 get a little bit tougher. In Week 5, they’ll travel to Arkansas to take on the Razorbacks. Sam Pittman has done a great job of building the Arkansas program back into prominence. We’ll see what he has up his sleeve for Saban and company. In Week 6, the hated Jimbo Fisher comes to town. Alabama will be looking for revenge, as the Aggies beat them last season. Fisher and Saban have been going at it in the press, so there’ll be a little more to this game.

Starting in Week 7, Alabama hits a very tough four-game stretch, starting at Tennessee. Josh Heupel had the Vols offense rolling last season. If he can get his defense to improve, then look out. That game will be followed by a date with Mike Leach and Mississippi State. The Tide defense better be ready for an all-out passing attack.

In Week 9, Alabama travels to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers. This will be Brian Kelly’s third time facing Nick Saban, and neither of the first two have gone well for Kelly. We’ll see if the change of scenery makes a difference. Following that one, the Tide takes a trip to Oxford to meet up with Lane Kiffin and his Ole Miss Rebels. This one is always a fun one!

In Week 12, Alabama will have their final non-conference game as they host Austin Peay. And then the following week, it’s one of the biggest rivalry games in the country, as they’ll host Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Auburn is in a rebuilding phase, so Alabama should be ok in this one.
