Why California Golden Bears are a good bet -1?
Although California was only 7-5 on the season, they produced plenty of quality victories: 21-18 at BYU, 12-10 over Pac 12 champ Washington, 15-14 at USC, and 33-21 over Colorado.
Cal leaned on an underrated defense that held Washington to 10, Washington State to 19, and even Stanford to only 23. If the Golden Bears can get decent play from their offense, they’ll easily cover the spread.

Why TCU Horned Frogs are a good bet +1?
During the regular season, there was a stretch where the TCU Horned Frogs might have been the worst team in the Big 12. TCU lost to Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Texas, and most amazingly, Kansas.
But in the final month of the regular season, the Horned Frogs flipped the script. West Virginia beat TCU 47-10, but Texas Christian took down Kansas State, Baylor, and Oklahoma State. The Horned Frogs could carry the late season heroics into this matchup. If they do, they’ll win.

California vs TCU Final 2018 Cheez-It Bowl Analysis
Bowl games are tough to handicap because teams are not only unfamiliar with each other, but they’re unfamiliar with other teams that they’ve played. TCU started out the season looking great, had a terrible middle part of the season, but then bounced back.
California was solid throughout their regular season. They imploded in a few matchups, but one thing they did brilliantly throughout was pressuring opposing quarterbacks. TCU’s biggest issue this season was their offensive line.
Unless the O-line has gotten better in the past month, the Golden Bears should have the upper hand in this. Cal’s the play.
