Alabama is a lock; Florida can stamp their ticket with a win over the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship

Unless the Alabama Crimson Tide lose their Week 15 game against Arkansas, if the Tide does it would be one of the greatest upsets in college football history, Bama is a lock to grab a College Football Playoff spot. That’s great news for the Florida Gators.

If Florida can beat Alabama in the SEC Championship, they’re in. The Gators stamped their ticket to the SEC title game with a nice road win against Tennessee on Saturday. Florida is deserving.

The Gators lone loss was 41-38 versus Texas A&M. The Aggies only loss happened against Alabama, though, and it was awful. The Tide dominated the Aggies 52-24. If Florida manages to upset Bama, they’ll have more than proven that they belong in the top four.

Ohio State and Texas A&M will force the committee to make a decision.

Both the Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas A&M Aggies could force the selection committee to make a hard decision. Ohio State won’t lose to Michigan on Dec. 12. Right now, the Buckeyes rank fourth on the CFP.

But Ohio State will have just 6 wins this season. Can the selection committee really put Ohio State into the top four event though they’ll have 6 wins with just 1-of-6 versus a Top 25 team?

That would cause major ruckus throughout college football. A&M is on a 6 game winning streak. If the Aggies win their next couple of games, they will have a 9-1 record with the only loss coming against the overall best team in the country.

That resume far outweighs Ohio State’s. So if Florida loses to Alabama, the likeliest scenario, the Aggies could get the nod over the Buckeyes.

Notre Dame a lock even with a loss against Clemson

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish’s next game is on Dec. 19 against the Clemson Tigers. If the Irish beat the Tigers, they’ll go into the College Football Playoff undefeated. If Clemson wins, Notre Dame still grabs a bid but so does Clemson.

The two played a classic earlier in the season with Notre Dame beating Clemson 47-40 after two overtimes. The ACC Championship should be just as exciting as that game.

Cincinnati has a chance. The Bearcats should go undefeated with a 9-0 record. But Cincinnati will have beaten a single team in the Top 25, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane

A 1-loss Aggies, Florida, or even a 6-team Ohio State team will have a better resume than the Bearcats. Those contenders must implode for Cincinnati to have any shot at a CFP bid.

Have a great week!
