Clemson have been ticking along quite nicely for the past few seasons, and are once again the most likely playoff candidates from the ACC. The Tigers will be in for a tough go of things in Week 2, though, as they will be taking on an Aggies team that may take a step forward under new head coach Jimbo Fisher. Texas A&M don’t necessarily need to win this one to make a statement, but if they do somehow manage to get a win over the Tigers, it may well just shape how the rest of their season looks. Georgia Bulldogs at South Carolina Gamecocks

The runners-up in last year’s National Championship Game will look a little different this season, but the Bulldogs are still totally loaded and favorites to win the SEC East. If any team in the East is going to give the Dawgs a serious run for their money, it is likely to be the South Carolina Gamecocks. They are coming off a very good season, and it looks as though Will Muschamp has this team heading very much in the right direction. Chip Kelly is now in charge of the Bruins, so it is certainly going to be fun to see if he can get this ship heading in the right direction. Sure, the Oklahoma Sooners, a playoff tam from last season, will be without Baker Mayfield after he was drafted to the NFL, but make no mistake about it, this is still a very talented football team. There are a lot of college football folks who believe that the Michigan State Spartans have a team good enough to take the Big 10 and land a playoff spot, but they will get a stern test early on. A trip to Sun Devil Stadium is never an easy proposition, but it may be even tougher this season, as Herm Edwards will be in trying to put his experienced fingerprints all over his new team.
