No question that the biggest upset of Week 1 was little Georgia State stunning Tennessee 38-30 on Saturday. The Panthers were 25-point underdogs, had never beaten a Power 5 team since launching the program in 2010 and were 2-10 last year, losing its final seven. Can’t say we saw that coming. Here are two games we would parlay together during the Week 2 of the NCAA Football Betting action – both from the Pac-12 and both Saturday.

California at No. 13 Washington

California opened with a 27-13 win over UC Davis. Things didn’t start well for the Bears. Ashtyn Davis fumbled away the opening kickoff and quarterback Chase Garbers began the game 3-for-9 for 16 yards and an interception. The Bears’ heralded defense yielded 107 yards of offense in the first quarter, when the Bears fell behind 10-0.
However, Garbers completed six of his next seven passes for 128 yards and a touchdown. Cal’s defense allowed just 157 yards through the final three quarters. And the Bears outscored the Aggies 27-3 the rest of the way. In his first career start, sophomore tailback Christopher Brown Jr. rushed for 197 yards and a touchdown on 36 carries, becoming the first Cal running back to rush for at least 100 yards in his initial start since Jahvid Best amassed 111 yards in 2009. Garbers finished the day completing 16 of 28 passes for 238 yards and two touchdown passes. He also threw three passes of 30 or more yards. He had five in 2018.
Washington beat Eastern Washington 47-14. Huskies QB Jacob Eason threw for 349 yards and four touchdowns in his first game in nearly two years – he transferred from Georgia and sat out last year. Eason completed 27 of 36 passes and led Washington on touchdown drives on four of its first five possessions. Eason’s 349 passing yards were the most by a Husky in their first career start. He is third Husky to pass for over 300 yards in their UW starting debut, joining Brock Huard (311 vs. Arizona, Sept. 21, 1996, W 31-17) and Taylor Barton (316 at UCLA, Oct. 13, 2001, L 35-13). Eason’s four touchdown passes tied for seventh most in school history (done 22 other times). Richard Newton scored from 23 yards out on his first collegiate carry. He ended up with 91 yards on 12 carries in the Husky debut.
The Huskies are 39-0 when scoring 31 or more points in the Chris Petersen era. The Huskies have tallied 40 or more points during the Petersen era 25 times. The Huskies’ 15-game home win streak is the fourth longest in the nation. Alabama has the longest home win streak with 26 games, followed by Clemson and UCF (16).
Last year, Cal upset No. 15 Washington 12-10 in a defensive slugfest. Peyton Henry’s 26-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter pulled Washington to 12-10, but California milked the final 4:51 off the clock to secure the win.
No. 25 Stanford at USC

There was no opening line here because USC has lost starting quarterback JT Daniels to a season-ending injury and Stanford might be without its QB as well. Daniels tore the ACL and meniscus in his right knee during Saturday’s 31-23 win against Fresno State. Daniels will undergo surgery in the next few weeks, Helton said, and will be eligible to use the season as a redshirt year.
True freshman Kedon Slovis, who went 6-of-8 for 57 yards with an interception in relief against Fresno State, will start against No. 25 Stanford in the Pac-12 opener for both teams. Slovis beat out redshirt junior Matt Fink and redshirt sophomore Jack Sears to win the No. 2 job during training camp. Slovis signed with the Trojans as a 247Sports Composite three-star recruit and the No. 26 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2019 out of Scottsdale (Az.) Desert Mountain. He received a pro comparison to Kirk Cousins when evaluated as a high-school prospect.
Vavae Malepeai posted a career-high 134 rushing yards plus a TD, while Stephen Carr scored two touchdowns to go along with 99 yards from scrimmage. The Trojans lost the turnover battle because they gave the ball away 4 times (2 fumbles and 2 interceptions), but they did force 3 takeaways, addressing a major problem from last season.
This the sixth consecutive year that USC begins league play versus the Cardinal, and the seventh time in 8 years. Stanford is USC’s oldest rival, dating to 1905. USC has won just 25% of its past dozen games versus the Cardinal, but has captured 2 of the past 3 in L.A.
Stanford starting QB KJ Costello did not return after taking a hit to the head near the end of the first half of the Cardinal’s 17-7 win against Northwestern. The injury occurred on a play during which Costello went into a sliding motion and received a forearm to the head from Northwestern defensive lineman Earnest Brown. It did not draw a penalty for targeting. With Costello sidelined in the second half, Stanford did not score any points on offense. Highly touted backup Davis Mills completed 7 of 14 passes for 81 yards.
Last year, Stanford beat USC 17-3. The Cardinal sacked Daniels four times and forced three turnovers. Bryce Love rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown – he’s now in the NFL.
