With Week 1 of the NFL season now all but in the books, we hope that you had a profitable weekend that helped give your bankroll a little boost. While there is still the business of the 2 Monday night games to attend to, we still think that it’s time to look ahead to Week 2 of the season, where we have some big games on tap. As is the case every single week of the NFL season, there are a ton of betting options open to you in Week 2. We are going to try and break things down into different categories, with out focus in this piece being on the point totals for NFL Week 2.
2019 NFL Week 2 Odds & Over/Under Picks
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers (UNDER 50 ½)
It’s not quite desperation time for either of these two teams after losing in Week 1, but it could start to approach that for the loser of this one. The Buccaneers offense showed very little to like in their loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and while the Panthers did put up 27 points in their opening week loss, they were forced to rely a little too heavily on the output of Christian McCaffrey.
This is a match-up that very often tends to lean to the lower side of the scoring coin, with 7 of the last 10 meetings between these two going UNDER.
NFL Week 2 Betting Trends
- The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Tampa Bay’s last 6 games against an opponent in the NFC conference
- The total has gone OVER in 4 of Carolina’s last 5 games played on a Thursday
Arizona Cardinals at Baltimore Ravens (OVER 43)
There is always the possibility that the lines and point totals may move over the course of the coming week, so I would get on this one as early as possible.
The Ravens opened their season by putting up 59 points on a porous Miami Dolphins defense and are at home to another team that is expected to struggle this season. The Cardinals put up 27 points in Week 1 in a tie with the Dolphins, with Kyler Murray settling in quickly at QB. I think this one is going to go OVER in a big way, so I am already all over it.
NFL Week 2 Betting Trends
- The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Arizona’s last 7 games played in September
- The total has gone OVER in 4 of Baltimore’s last 6 games when playing as the favorite
New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins (OVER 47)
This is another one that looks to be a very good bet after you take into account what both teams did in the opening week of the season. The Dolphins looked as bad, if not worse, than expected in giving up 59 points to the Ravens.

The New England Patriots looked every part the Super Bowl champions in a 33-3 demolition of the Pittsburgh Steelers. This coming weekend will likely see Antonio Brown take the field for the first time in a Patriots jersey. If the Pats can hit the Steelers for 33 with AB out of the line-up, what will they do to the Dolphins with him in it?
NFL Week 2 Betting Trends
- The total has gone UNDER in 6 of New England’s last 7 games against an opponent in the AFC East division
- The total has gone OVER in 14 of Miami’s last 20 games at home
Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins (OVER 44)
There was some concern about the Commanders and their ability to put points on the board this season, and while they lost to the Eagles in Week 1, they will take some solace in that they were able to score 27 points against a good team.
They may need even more than that this Week, though, as the Cowboys offense was humming in Week 1 under new coordinator Kellen Moore. This team looks like a double threat, and with 7 of the last 10 meetings between these two going OVER, I think it might be more of the same here.
NFL Week 2 Betting Trends
- The total has gone UNDER in 10 of Dallas’ last 13 games on the road
- The total has gone UNDER in 12 of Washington’s last 17 games played on a Sunday
