2019 NFL Week 5 Over/Under Betting Picks

Written by on September 30, 2019

There is still one more game to come in Week 4 of the NFL season, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals set to go head to head in a critical AFC North battle. Even with one game still to come, we can look ahead to NFL Week 5 and start making some predictions for the coming week.

As we do every single week, we will be breaking down all the games to see if we can find the best available picks. We already have covered SU and ATS selections, so now it’s time to take a look at our point total selections for Week 5. Without further ado, let’s get right to the NFL betting action.

2019 NFL Week 5 Over/Under Betting Picks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints (OVER 47 ½)

After a slow start to the season on the offensive side of the football, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have gone off in a big way over the last couple of weeks. They have scored a combined 86 points over the last 2 weeks, with the OVER hitting in both of those games.

The Saints have now won back to back games, but they have seen their offensive numbers dip with Teddy Bridgewater in to replace the injured Drew Brees. It is perhaps because Brees is out that the number is on the lower side here. I like this one to go OVER in a big way.

NFL Week 5 Betting Trends

  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Tampa Bay’s last 9 games against an opponent in the NFC conference
  • The total has gone OVER in 7 of New Orleans’ last 8 games played in week 5

Buffalo Bills at Tennessee Titans (UNDER 38 ½)

When you talk about teams with an explosive offense in the NFL, you don’t often hear the Buffalo Bills or Tennessee Titans mentioned in the conversation. These are a pair of teams who have been getting the job done on the offensive side of the football, which is perhaps why they have a combined 1-7 O/U record this season.

The UNDER has hit in 6 of the last 7 games for the Buffalo Bills, including all 4 games this season. In games played in October, 5 of the last 6 games for the Titans have gone UNDER. With all of that in mind, I think we are looking at the UNDER here.

NFL Week 5 Betting Trends

  • The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Buffalo’s last 9 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Tennessee’s last 6 games played in October

Arizona Cardinals at Cincinnati Bengals (UNDER 48)

It’s always a little tough to pick a team in the coming week’s game when they still need to play on Monday night, but we have seen enough of the Bengals to know that they have not been much of an offensive threat. The Bengals will be favorites against the Cardinals in NFL Week 5.

The Bengals have seen the UNDER hit in 3 of their last 4 games, while the Cardinals have seen things go the same way in 2 of their last 3 games. In previous meetings, these two have gone 3-3 O/U, but the way they are playing this season suggests that we might be looking at a game on the lower scoring side of things.

NFL Week 5 Betting Trends

  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Cincinnati’s last 8 games played in September
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Arizona’s last 6 games

Indianapolis Colts at Kansas City Chiefs (OVER 57)

One thing that you can almost certainly guarantee with any game that the Kansas City Chiefs are involved in is that we are going to see some serious offense.

They are averaging around 34 PPG through the opening 4 weeks of the season, and with the Colts looking better than expected on offense without Andrew Luck, this one has the potential of turning into a bit of a shootout. The Chiefs have seen 4 of their last 5 games go OVER and I think we are going to see more of the same this weekend.

NFL Week 5 Betting Trends

  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Indianapolis’ last 7 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Kansas City’s last 5 games against Indianapolis
