With the start of the new NFL season just a matter of a few weeks away, every team in the league has some questions that need to be answered in terms of their player personnel. Even those teams that have a solid squad will still have some level of concern about one position or another, but when that area of concern is at the QB slot, it might be time to start worrying. One such problem could potentially dictate how things play out in the NFC North, as we all wait to see what Aaron Rodgers finally decides to do. That is just one thing to consider as we take a closer look at the NFC North ahead of the 2021 season. We will take a look at the current NFC North Division odds for all 4 teams and how things might look at the end of the regular season.
NFL Picks to win the 2021 NFC North
Green Bay Packers (-120)
The Packers ran away with the NFC North last season, winning 13 games and making it all the way to the NFC Conference Championship. The feeling was that they would potentially deliver more of the same this season, but can they do that without Aaron Rodgers in the fold? Rodgers has stated that will never play for the Packers again and has reportedly turned down a massive contract extension. This is a saga that is going on a little too long and which needs to be resolved sooner rather than later. Even if Rodgers does not play, I still think the Packers are good enough to win the North.
Chicago Bears (+325)
The problem for the Bears over the past few seasons was that they were playing with a QB that not a lot of people had much faith in. Mitch Trubisky is now gone, and the Bears selected Justin Fields as their potential QB of the future. While the fans probably want Fields in right away, Chicago has made it clear that Andy Dalton will be their Week 1 starter. How much rope he will be given remains to be seen, but I think Dalton is a solid veteran that can help this team. The Bears were 8-8 and second in the division last season, and I think they might be better this year.
Minnesota Vikings (+200)
As you can see, I am not following the bookies’ odds with my prediction for the NFC North this coming season. The Vikings took a big step back last season and closed out the year at 7-9. Part of the issue for the Vikings last season was the play of their usually reliable defense, which was hurt by the loss of Danielle Hunter for the season. He will be back, but you do have to worry about the health of a guy that missed the entire season. Even with the defense being stronger this season, I still have concerns about this team as a whole, which is why I have them in 3rd.
Detroit Lions (+1600)
Over the past few years, we have routinely watched the Detroit Lions trade away their best players and getting very little in return. That trend continued this offseason, with Matthew Stafford heading to the LA Rams in exchange for Jared Goff in what most view as a downgrade at the QB position. Even if Goff does return to form, he does not have a ton of weapons at his disposal. This is going to be another long season in Detroit.
