The start of the NFL season is still a few months in the future, but with the release of the win/loss totals for every team, is there really a better time to start talking about how the new season might play out. The predictions made at this particular time need to be taken with a grain of salt, as we are going to see rosters change before the first coin toss takes place to start the year. With that in mind, let’s look ahead at what we can perhaps expect from the Cincinnati Bengals, whose win/loss total is currently set at 6.

Why Bengals over 6 is a good bet?

It is perhaps fair to suggest that the Bengals stuck with Marvin Lewis as their head coach for a couple of seasons too many. Zac Taylor will be the man in charge this season, but he certainly has a job on his hands, taking over a team that went 6-10 last season. A new voice can have an impact on players who got a little too comfortable under the old regime, so perhaps he might light a fire under some veteran guys.

With A.J Green and Tyler Boyd, the Bengals are blessed with a solid 1-2 punch at WR. They also have a manageable schedule in the early part of the season, which might allow them to pick up some wind and get a little bit of confidence going before they head into the meat of the season.

With some improvement from the O-line, this team might just be able to spring some surprises along the way in 2019.

Why Bengals under 6 is a good bet?

While the Bengals certainly have some nice parts, they have a defense that was totally brutal last season, giving up close to 450 YPG. Taylor has some work to do to get that unit up to par, and it certainly doesn’t help that the Bengals have one of the toughest schedules in the league to look forward to.

The Cincinnati Bengals are not favorites to win the AFC North.

As we mentioned earlier, the Bengals have a manageable schedule to start the season and could easily be 4-1 or 3-2 after the first 5 weeks. After that, though, things get ridiculously tough, with the likes of the Patriots and the Rams, last years Super Bowl teams, both on the schedule.

Cincinnati Bengals 2019 Regular Season Win/Loss Total Final Analysis

There are teams that get off to a slow start and still have a good season, but you get the sense that the Bengals year hinges on how they come out. If they fall to some very beatable teams in the early weeks, this thing could go off the rails quickly.

Coach Taylor will be looking to make his mark quickly, but just how much can he get out of this squad? There are some personnel changes that need to be made here before this team can compete in what could be a very strong AFC North Division. I just don’t have enough faith in the defense to get the job done here, and while I think the Bengals might end up with a push at 6-10, I am leaning more towards the under.
