Love him or hate him, you will have a hard time finding a quarterback who had a better career than Tom Brady. He is now considered by most to be the GOAT and will head into Sunday with a shot at picking up his 7th Super Bowl ring, which is an absolutely ridiculous stat. On the flipside, you have Patrick Mahomes, who will be looking for a 2nd consecutive championship, which, at this very early stage in his career is sure to have a lot of people suggesting that it is only a matter of time before he replaces Brady as the best to ever play the QB position. Given the years between them, it is tough to compare these two, but there are some things we can look at. That said, let’s get right to it so you can make your bets against their Super Bowl odds.
Patrick Mahomes Vs Tom Brady: is it an even quarterback matchup?
Comparing Career Stats
Comparing stats is tough because of how much longer Brady has been in the league. Things like passing yards and TD passes have these guys miles apart, but there are other stats we can look at for a comparison. Let’s start out by looking at the winning percentage. Tom Brady has a .769% winning percentage, which is outstanding given how long he has played, but Mahomes is ahead at .826%.
When it comes to completion percentage, it is once again close, with Mahomes having a slight edge, going 66% versus 64% for Brady. Touchdown TD percentage and interception percentage are also both close, although Mahomes has the lead in both. We do need to remember that Brady has been doing this a whole lot longer and it is tough to keep those averages up over that long a stretch.
Head to Head in Games
These QB’s have met 4 times in the past, and what we can clearly see is that the games tend to be close. Their first matchup came in 2018, with Brady leading the Patriots to a 43-40 win. It was a pair of INTs from Mahomes that made the difference, although he did toss 4 TD passes to 1 for Brady. The second meeting came later that year in the AFC Championship Game, with the Patriots needing OT to get past the Chiefs. They were able to survive a pair of Brady INTs to win and move on.
Mahomes got his first win over Brady in 2019 in a 23-16 win, throwing about 120 more yards than the GOAT in that game. Finally, they met earlier this season and went on a bit of a gunslinging game, with the QBs combining for over 800 passing yards. It was Mahomes and the Chiefs who came out on top in a 27-24 win.
Player Comparison Prop Bets
You would have to say that the QBs in this game are evenly matched, which makes the player comparison prop bets all the more intriguing. There are a lot of ways to bet on Brady versus Mahomes, including things like total yards, who will throw the first TD, and who will have the most completions, to name just a few. This is your chance to wager on who will come out on top.
