Heading into NFL Week 5, which favorite offers overlay odds

Kansas City looks like a lock to win the AFC. But the Chiefs offer underlay odds. We’re at Week 5. There is a lot of football left to play. Anything can happen.

Baltimore offers more underlay odds than Kansas City, though. KC dominated the Ravens in Week 3. What can Baltimore do to change the outcome if the two teams meet in the playoffs?

Seattle offers underlay odds at +700. Sure, Russell Wilson could win the MVP this season. And, yes, the Seahawks average 35.5 points per, ranking second in the NFL. But the Emerald City ranks last in total yards allowed per game. Eventually, that will catch up to them.

If we consider a favorite any team offering odds at +1000 or below, the best possible wager is on the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers has yet to throw an interception, is completing 70.5% of his passes, and has thrown 13 touchdown passes in four games. He’s also thrown for over 1,200 yards in four games.

The Packers’ defense makes them a better bet than the Seahawks. Green Bay allows 353.3 yards per game, ranking twelfth. That’s impressive because they’ve already played Atlanta and New Orleans, teams that move the ball with regularity.

Which +2800 or less choice has the best chance of winning the Super Bowl?

Both the Rams and Colts are strong plays. At +2200, Los Angeles offers overlay odds for sure. The Rams are a play or two away from being undefeated. Los Angeles almost upset Buffalo on the road after getting behind. LAR plays to win, and the defense is great.

The other overlay choice are the Indianapolis Colts. Philip Rivers is completing 72.5% of his passes, rookie Jonathan Taylor is averaging close to 4 yards per carry, and the defense ranks first in the NFL in points allowed per game. Opponents average just 14 points per against Indy. The average includes the Colts’ first game of the season where they allowed 27 against the Jaguars.

What major underdog can turn it around and take the Vince Lombardi Trophy this season?

Two teams could get on track, the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings. Of the two, the team that should put it together are the Vikings. Minnesota has a good quarterback, Kirk Cousins, a great running back, Dalvin Cook, and a strong offensive line.

The Vikings biggest problem is on defense where they allow 31.3 points from over 425 yards per. If Minnesota’s defense can gel, the Vikings are good enough to get back into the race in the NFC.

Also give Philadelphia a shot. The Eagles won their first game in Week 4, a nice 25-20 victory over the injury-riddled San Francisco 49ers. If Philadelphia can hang on and win a couple of more games as injured as they are, they could really surprise.
