Vegas looks Golden

The Knights are big time favorites to win the Stanley Cup because they’ve dominated since the season restarted.

Vegas beat the Stars, Blues, and Avalanche in the round-robin. They then put a 4-1 series beating onto the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Golden Knights have played so well that they beat Vancouver 5-0 in the first game of their 7-game playoff series. Goalie Robin Lehner was brilliant.

Lehner recorded 26 saves in the shut-out win. Once in a while, like all goalies, Robin will have a bad game. But he allows less than 3 goals on average per match.

Because the Golden Knights average 3.2 goals per, it’s obvious how they’re winning games. They’re pressuring opposing goalies while Lehner and the Golden Knights defense are keeping offenses off-balance.

Stars will push Avalanche

Vegas provided the most dominant Game 1 win in the second round. The Dallas Stars provided the biggest upset.

Last week, we pegged the Dallas Stars a nice overlay choice to win the Stanley Cup. The reason? The Stars had begun to open up their offense while still playing great defense.

In their first game against the Colorado Avalanche in the conference semifinals, Dallas showed why they’re a real contender to lift the Cup. The Stars beat the Avalanche 5-3.

On average, Dallas allows 2.5 goals per. They score 2.6 goals per. What they’ve proven during the restart and in the playoffs is that they can adjust depending on the opponent.

The Stars must no longer think defense first. They know how good the defense is. They can now concentrate on scoring goals and rely on their defense to do its job.

That makes the Dallas Stars perhaps the only team that can beat Vegas in the Western Conference.

Islanders – Flyers and Bruins – Lightning are toss-ups

First puck in the New York Islanders versus Philadelphia Flyers series dropped on Monday, August 24. Islanders-Flyers should be a tough series. Expect it go at least 6. It may go 7.

Bruins-Lightning projects as a 7-game series as well. The Lightning lost the first game. They can bounce back in the series, though.

This year’s Tampa Bay Lightning squad won’t fold. They proved that in the first round. Columbus evened the series after Game 2. Tampa won 3 straight.

Expect the Lightning to pick up their skates in Game 2.

Have a great week!
