Another week of NHL action is set to begin, as teams from the top of the standings to the bottom will aim to pick up some wins on the ice. With this week’s slate of games come several chances to place some high-value bets in the NHL. Here, we look at some of those opportunities to place some smart wagers on pro hockey over the next few days.

Tuesday: Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Nashville Predators

On Tuesday, the Nashville Predators will host the Columbus Blue Jackets, in a game that could be great from a betting perspective. This is one of the most intriguing back-to-back spots of the week in the NHL, as the Blue Jackets are coming off of a Monday night game against the Rangers, while the Predators are coming off of a game against the Flames. With both teams playing for a second straight night, the total may be the place to look for this contest.

Both teams will be rotating goalies in all likelihood, which could mean more or less scoring depending on who is in net for this particular contest. There is also the component of tired legs to consider, as both teams will have skaters who are going for the second night in a row. We could see this game go over the total, with tired defensemen a distinct possibility in Nashville.

Thursday: Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Edmonton Oilers

Another back-to-back spot worth keeping an eye on this week will take place in Edmonton, where the Oilers host the Tampa Bay Lightning. These two teams are battling for playoff positioning in their respective conferences at this point in the season. Here, Tampa is playing for the second straight night, after they take on the Vancouver Canucks on the road on Wednesday night.

This spot is a great chance to bet the Oilers at home, against a Lightning team that has not been all that impressive on the road. Tampa Bay is 10-9 on the road this season, a far cry from their dominant 17-4-1 mark at home. Edmonton needs to take advantage of an opportunity like this one to further solidify themselves as a Wild Card team, and they are in a prime position to do just that.

Saturday: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens

Finally, we look at an all-Canadian matchup on Sunday, as the Toronto Maple Leafs face off with the Montreal Canadiens. These two teams could not be in different places in the Eastern Conference standings, with the Maple Leafs sitting in the top three in the Atlantic Division and the Canadiens sitting one spot ahead of the bottom of the East. But that disparity between the two teams could create some value in the betting markets for this matchup.

Montreal has very little to play for at this point in the season. However, the chance to beat a historic rival like the Maple Leafs will breathe a little life into a lifeless season. Expect the Habs to come out and play hard in this one, and they could be a live home underdog.
