USA Vs Serbia Winning Predictions

Written by on August 10, 2016

The third round of games in the men’s Olympic basketball tournament is set for Wednesday in Rio, but we are going to take a little look ahead at the Friday action, and specifically the next game up for the USA. It has come as no real surprise to anyone that the Americans have totally dominated their opening two games of the tournament, although we do expect them to have a little bit of a tougher test against Australia on Wednesday. Things might also be a little more challenging on Friday when they have to face a Serbia team that looked very promising in the games they played on the road to Rio. That said, this is still a game that everyone expects the US to win in a big way, which means that the betting lines you are most likely going to be looking at is the point spread. The US has won by an average of 50 points in their opening two games, and they are not likely to let up any moving forward. The question is whether or not any of their opponents can find a way to slow them down.

Why bet on the USA

While the US are running up the score on their opponents, it has to be said that they are certainly spreading the wealth in terms of scoring. As far as points per game go, the Americans only have two players in the top 10, with Kevin Durant leading the way with 20.5 PPG, which is good enough for a 4th place tie. Paul George is the other US player in the top 10, and it really does go to show the strength of this squad, as Coach K can roll out all kinds of different formations to ensure that everyone in the team gets a little bit of the Olympic experience. That may change a little as the tournament progresses.

Why bet on Serbia

Back in the day, Yugoslavia were considered a major power in international basketball, but after the split of that country, things have been a little tougher for the new countries that emerged. Serbia are one of those nations, but they look as though they are about to get themselves back on the basketball map, as they looked very good in their qualification for the Olympics. They have a talented young squad of players, and Miroslav Raduljica finds himself third in scoring in this tournament with 21.5 PPG. The Serbians are 1-1 right now and will be looking to pick up another win against France on Wednesday, which may give them a little jolt of confidence heading into this one.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Serbians to put up a little bit of a fight here, but they will eventually be worn down by a much more talented squad of players. Another straightforward win for the USA in the end.
