After a fortnight of no international rugby union, the Six Nations Championship 2023 is back this weekend. Three tantalizing games await, with Ireland looking to extend their lead in the competition, while the likes of Scotland, France, and England will all be desperate to win and stay in the race as well. We preview each of these games with a rundown of the current Rugby odds on each Six Nations match this weekend.
Weekly Rugby Betting Rundown of the Top Games | Six Nations Takes Centre Stage Once Again
Italy vs. Ireland
When: Saturday, 25th February
Where: Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Italy
Time: 8:15 AM EST
TV: NBC Sports
Opening up Round Three of the Six Nations on Saturday morning EST, Italy will host Ireland.
We’re expecting this to be the least competitive of the three matches this weekend. Ireland are the strong favorites to win the Six Nations 2023, and have two dominant wins so far this tournament—by 24 points over Wales, and by 13 points over France.
Italy, on the other hand, entered the Six Nations as heavy underdogs, having come last 17 of the 23 times they’ve played in this competition. They have lost both of their games so far this year, impressing in defeat against France in the opening round, before losing comprehensively to England last round.
With odds of -10000 for Ireland and +867 for Italy, this match seems to only be heading one way.
Wales vs. England
When: Saturday, 25th February
Where: Principality Stadium, Cardiff, Wales
Time: 10:45 AM EST
TV: NBC Sports
Also, on Saturday morning EST, England will head to Cardiff to take on Wales—potentially, if players opt not to strike that day, which is a current possibility.
If the match does go ahead, England are favorites to win. While they were beaten at home by Scotland in the first round, they looked better against Italy last round and will be eager to stay in touch with the competition leaders by picking up another win here.
Wales, meanwhile, have been woeful. They lost by 24 points to Ireland, then by 28 points to Scotland last week. Nothing has been going their way, and with the disunity of players potentially striking over contract issues, it’s hard to see the Welsh putting up a united front on Saturday to repel the English.
England are -263 favorites, with Wales at +175.
France vs. Scotland
When: Sunday, 26th February
Where: Stade de France, Paris, France
Time: 9:00 AM EST
TV: NBC Sports
Rounding out Round Three of the Six Nations is a fascinating clash between France and Scotland, in what should be the match of the round.
France came into the tournament as second favorites, but have now been eclipsed by Scotland in the betting odds. Scotland are two wins from two matches, having beaten England away, then backed up in Round Two with a strong performance against Wales. This is the Scot’s first time winning their opening two matches, and they are playing some excellent rugby.
France were soundly beaten by Ireland last round, and have now plummeted down in the odds. However, despite this, they are still strong favorites to beat Scotland here with odds of -476 against Scotland’s +282 if you’re picking an upset this round, back the Scots to continue their winning ways.
