Sancho agrees to contract with Man United, Dortmund sets deadline
Jadon Sancho and Manchester United have agreed to terms on a 5-year contract. But just because Sancho and Man U. have agreed to terms, it doesn’t mean Jadon will be in a Red Devil kit next season.
Dortmund is playing hardball. The Bundesliga team has set a 95 million euro transfer tag onto Sancho. Almost as important? Dortmund’s deadline. If United doesn’t come up with the cash by July 31, the dream of Sancho accepting passes from Marcus Rashford won’t come to fruition.
Wijnaldum heads to Paris Saint-Germain
One of the most sought after players has a new home. Paris Saint-Germain pulled Georginio Wijnaldum from Barcelona’s grasp.
For five years Wijnaldum had helped Liverpool win the biggest tournaments in European soccer. Barcelona had a deal on the table. PSG swooped in and doubled the offer. The 30-year-old had no choice but to go with Paris.
Neymar and Mbappe, if he stays, are going to love playing with Wijnaldum. If Mbappe doesn’t go to Real, expect Paris to offer some of the lowest odds of any squad to win next year’s Champions League Final.
Chelsea matches Paris Saint-Germain’s offer for Inter Milan’s Hakimi
PSG is also in the running for Inter player Achraf Hakimi. The Serie A champs must make moves this summer to shore up their finances. That involves allowing players like Hakimi to walk.
But although Paris Saint-Germain thought they had a done deal, the current Champions League title holders matched PSG’s offer. Chelsea hopes to add Hakimi to their squad.
Every player in Europe saw what Thomas Tuchel did with the Blues. It’s doubtful anybody wouldn’t want to play for such a strong manager. Expect Chelsea to have the upper hand in the battle for Hakimi’s services.
Is Barca looking to replace Koeman with former Messi teammate Xavi?
With every passing day, it appears Barcelona’s current manager is gone. Now, we hear a rumor that Xavi, who played with Messi, is excited to run Barca.
Barcelona has made moves to keep the greatest player of all time happy. They’ve gotten much stronger already by putting contracts in place for Lionel’s Argentinian teammate Sergio Aguero, former Barca teammate Eric Garcia, and Real Betis player Emerson.
Expect Barcelona to drop Koeman and go with Xavi. It seems Barca feels Messi will be more comfortable with Xavi on the sidelines, someone he knows well, than Koeman.
Leipzig loses two, Alaba heads to Real from Bayern
RB Leipzig had a decent Champions League run. The often forgotten squad also played well in the Bundesliga this season.
Don’t expect Leipzig to be nearly as strong once the new season starts. Ibrahima Konate is heading to Liverpool for a 41.5 million euro transfer. Bayern Munich handed 42.5 million to Leipzig for Dayot Upemacano.
Bayern’s contract to Upemacano could be because David Alaba will now play for El Blanco. Alaba and Upemacano are both defenders.
Pogba says Man U. has yet to offer him a new contract while PSG rumors swirl
Euro 2020 kicks off this weekend, which is why French star Paul Pogba has gotten so many questions about heading to Paris Saint-Germain. Most of the questions are coming from his teammates on the French national team who play for PSG.
Pogba said Manchester United has yet to offer him a contract. If Man U doesn’t, PSG could very well attract the midfielder star.
But if the Red Devils aren’t interested in Pogba, Paris won’t be his only potential landing spot. Plenty of teams will be interested in the talented player.
