The king is dead in the Champions League, with Ajax stunning the 3-time reigning champions Real Madrid last week. One of the other favorites, PSG, went down to a stunning loss at the hands of Manchester United, which now leaves this competition totally wide open. Between Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, we will see 4 more teams move on, which will get us down to the final 8 and the quarter-finals draw. It’s tough to know who to install as a favorite at this point, although we will have a much better idea once the 4 remaining Round of 16 games is in the books.
Juventus would seem like a good bet until you realize that they are heading into the second leg of their tie with a 2-goal deficit to overcome. Atletico Madrid, who have made it to the final twice in the past 5 years have the edge ahead of the second leg, but they know that they will be in for a battle against Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus in Turin. Juventus are favored by ½ in the second leg, with the O/U set at 2 ½.

Why bet on Juventus?
While Juventus are running away with the Serie A and will almost certainly be crowned as champions again, they are not having the same sort of success in the UEFA Champions League. The defeat in the opening leg of this tie means that they have now lost 3 of their last 4 games in this tournament.
Perhaps even more alarming is that they have only managed to score 4 times in those previous 4 outings, which is not great news when you consider that they need 2 just to tie this thing up. If you look at their league form, though, you quickly understand that this team has what it takes to pull this one out. Juventus are unbeaten at home, winning 12 and drawing 2 while scoring 32 and surrendering just 9. If they can play as they do in Serie A, they might just find themselves a lifeline.

Why bet on Atletico Madrid?
At this late stage of the season, Atletico Madrid remains the only real threat to Barcelona in La Liga, but with them sitting 7 points off the pace, the chances of them actually closing that gap seem slim. What that means is that this team is probably now looking at the Champions League as their best shot at winning some silverware, and since they do have experience in getting to the final, you need to like their chances to continue on.
It certainly helps that they head into the second leg nursing a 2-goal lead, especially given how solid they are defensively. Madrid has now not surrendered a goal in 4 straight UCL games. They have also only given up 17 goals in 27 league games, so look for them to park the bus here and hold that lead.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction for Juventus vs Atletico Madrid
Juventus really do need to come out and get on the board early, as an early goal might just rattle an otherwise solid defensive unit. I’m not so sure that happens here, though. A 1-goal deficit may have been manageable, but 2 is just too much. I would play the UNDER in this one at Italy.
