Soccer Odds For The Euro 2016 Final

Written by on July 8, 2016

After close to a month of football action in France, Euro 2016 is down to one game to decide who will be crowned the champion of Europe. It’s no real surprise that hosts France are there, as they came into this thing as the betting odds favorite. What is a surprise, though, is that they will be going against a Portugal side who have not exactly set things on fire during this tournament? In fact, it wasn’t until the semi-final game against Wales that Portugal were even able to win a game in regulation time. With the final now looming, it’s time to start thinking about how you are going to wager on this game. There are essentially three different wagers that you can go with regarding the outcome, and I am going to take a quick look at each, whilst also making a prediction.

Who Will Win Euro 2016?

As it stands at the moment, it is France who are the clear favorites at -110, while you can get Portugal at a very tasty +380. Yes, Portugal have arguably the best player in the world in Cristiano Ronaldo, but is he enough to beat a France team that looks great from top to bottom? I don’t believe that he does, and the French have just looked like a team of destiny all along. It’s tough to imagine France losing this one on their own soil, so I have to go with them for the win.

Betting the Spread in the Euro 2016 Final

France are favored by a half point at odds of -110, and this to me seems like a very good bet. What this means is that they on need to win by a single goal in order to cover the wager, and when you look at what they did to Germany in the semi’s, you see a team that is more than capable of scoring goals and getting the win. I will be posting my final score prediction in the next section, but it’s safe to say that this is a wager that I would place in favor of France, keeping in mind that they have to win inside the regulation 90 minutes in order for you to cash a winning ticket.

Betting the OVER/UNDER in the Euro 2016 Final

The goal total is set for 2, which might be a little tricky here. My feeling is that France will come away with the 2-0 win, which would mean that I am looking at a push here. If I was forced to go one way or the other, I would probably go with the OVER. There are a lot of guys on the field who can put the ball in the back of the net, and an early goal might just open things up. You have Griezmann and Giroud on one side, and Ronaldo and Nani on the other, so there is a lot of firepower on display. I believe that the OVER is the safer of the two options.
