Top 2021 MLS Matches to Bet On: Kansas City and Seattle Battle For The Leadership

There was a little bit of Major League Soccer action on Wednesday night, but for a full slate of action, fans should be excited for this weekend. Saturday night is jam-packed with compelling matchups while Sunday has a few gems as well. Let’s take a look at some of the best games on the MLS schedule this weekend so you can get ready to bet against the MLS odds.

Top MLS Games to Watch and Wager On the Weekend (Sep 25th – 26th)

Philadelphia Union vs Atlanta United FC

The weekend kicks off with a Saturday matinee in the City of Brotherly Love. The Union is a home favorite at +110 despite being close to even in the standings with Atlanta, which has a Moneyline of +210. Both teams are on the edge of the playoff picture with Atlanta one point ahead of Philadelphia but with the Union playing one fewer game. United has found its rhythm offensively, scoring 10 goals in the team’s last three games. The Five Stripes have conceded just two goals in those three matches while also winning five of six overall, making them one of the hottest teams in the league. At the same time, Philadelphia has conceded the fourth-fewest goals in MLS this season, so they are a tough egg to crack and are coming off an impressive 3-1 win over Orlando.

Minnesota United FC vs Houston Dynamo FC

This is one of the more lopsided matchups of the weekend but an intriguing battle nonetheless. Houston sits eight points behind Minnesota for one of the final playoff spots in the Western Conference. But after beating Dallas last weekend, the Dynamo has two wins and a draw in their last three games, giving them plenty of momentum and making them an interesting underdog at +350. At the same time, it’s impossible to figure out how Minnesota will play from one game to the next. The Loons were embarrassed 4-0 against Sporting Kansas City but then bounced back last weekend with a 3-0 win over LAFC, so who knows what version of Minnesota will show up on Saturday night despite being -142 favorites at home.

San Jose Earthquakes vs Los Angeles FC

Both of these teams are outside of the playoff picture but within striking distance, so three points would very much be appreciated on each side. While just three points separate these teams in the standings, it’s LAFC that’s favored on the road at +110 while San Jose’s Moneyline is listed at +205. LAFC had won three in a row before losing to Portland last weekend, although there’s no shame in losing to the Timbers these days. San Jose, on the other hand, just snapped a three-game winless run, although in less-than-convincing fashion with a 4-3 win over last-place Austin.

Sporting Kansas City vs Seattle Sounders

The biggest game of the weekend is Sunday night between Kansas City and Seattle. The former is currently at the top of the Western Conference standings, just one point ahead of the Sounds. Of course, Sporting KC has played one extra game, so the Sounders control their own destiny. Yet, it’ll be Kansas City that’s favored at home with a -105 Moneyline compared to Seattle’s +255 Moneyline. As mentioned, Kansas City’s last game was a 4-0 thrashing of Minnesota, so the Wizards appear to be back on track after a rough patch. The Sounders, meanwhile, have lost two of their last three league matches despite conceding the fewest goals in MLS this season.
