2022 NCAA Football Betting Analysis: AP Poll 25 Rankings Update After Week 2

After Week 2, we’ve seen some changes in the polls. With ranked teams not only losing, but also playing some close games, the voters have done some maneuvering. We’re going to take a look at both the AP and the Coaches Poll, and we’ll compare some of the differences between each so you can continue betting against the NCAAF Lines.

This Week’s College Football Top 25 Breakdown Heading Into Week 3 of the 2022-23 Season

The Top Spot

Our first difference in the polls starts at the top. After Alabama’s near-loss to the Texas Longhorns, the AP voters have moved the Georgia Bulldogs to the top spot. Georgia shut out Samford on Saturday, and after their thrashing of Oregon in Week 1, the AP pollsters felt that the Bulldogs deserved the top spot. Georgia took 53 votes for the top spot, while Alabama only garnered 9.

On the other hand, the coaches still feel that Alabama is the top team. The vote was fairly close, with Alabama getting 39 first-place votes, while Georgia received 25 votes for the top spot. The coaches usually don’t make a lot of changes when a team plays a close game.

More Top 10 Differences

The next difference is at the #4 spot. The Coaches Poll has the Clemson Tigers sitting at #4 and Michigan at #5, while the AP pollsters feel that the Michigan Wolverines belong at the fourth slot, and Clemson at #5. The AP voters took into account that Clemson had issues beating Georgia Tech, while the Wolverines ran through their first two opponents, making things look very easy.

USC has risen up the polls, and the AP voters have the Trojans at #7 and the Oklahoma State Cowboys at #8, while the coaches have the Cowboys at #7 and USC at #8. Lincoln Riley’s squad has looked dominant in their first two victories, while Oklahoma State has played well, but hasn’t been as dominant as USC. We need to keep an eye on USC, as the Pac-12 hasn’t looked strong early in the season. If USC can run the table in the conference, it will be hard not to put them in the College Football Playoffs.

The AP Poll has the Kentucky Wildcats coming in at #9, the Arkansas Razorbacks at #10, and the Michigan State Spartans at #11. The Coaches Poll has Michigan State at #9, Kentucky at 10, and Arkansas at 11. Kentucky has been impressive early in the season, and they just won a huge game at Florida last Saturday. Arkansas started the season off with a big win against Cincinnati. Michigan State hasn’t played any competition as of yet, so we’ll have to wait and see how good they truly are.

#13 Miami Hurricanes @ #22 Texas A&M Aggies Betting Analysis

Mario Cristobal will play his first big game against Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M. The Aggies are coming off of a devastating upset against Appalachian State. The Canes head into College Station as a 5.5-point underdog. While the Aggies have one of the most talented groups of recruits in the country, Fisher has yet to get them to the level that many have expected.

We’re going to go out on a limb here, and take the road dog in this one. We think that the Aggies will still be in disarray, and this will be the game where Miami announces to the nation that “The U” is back.
