Top Boxing Betting Picks of the Week – January 29th

Written by on January 29, 2018

It’s a rather quiet week on the boxing betting front, but we still have three very big fights on the books, all of which will be held this coming Saturday. The good news for you fight-fans who are not always able to stay up late for the big fights is that the locations of these bouts bode perfectly for viewers in the US, as they will all be on in the middle of the afternoon. We have one fight going on in Russia on Saturday, which is then followed up by a pair of great bouts at the O2 Arena in London, England. They should all be over by late afternoon, giving you plenty of time to start wagering on all the action going down in other sports on Saturday night. Let’s take a closer look at all 3 fights on the board, including the latest boxing odds to win.

Top Expert Boxing Betting Picks of the Week – January 29th

Yunier Dorticos vs. Murat Gassiev

  • When: Saturday, February 3
  • Record: Dorticos 22-0-0 / Gassiev 25-0-0
  • KOs: Dorticos 95% / Gassiev 69%
  • Boxing Betting Odds: Dorticos +155 / Gassiev -175
This bout is part of the brutal World Boxing Super Series and is a semi-final event in the Cruiserweight division. Both fighters head to Sochi, Russia with unbeaten records, and both fighters have shown that they have KO power based on what they have done in their previous fights. Gassiev (25-0, 18 KO) is a mere 24 years old, but already has a ton of experience under his belt. He reached the semi-final by pounding Krzysztof Wlodarczyk into submission in just 3 rounds in his last match. Dorticos (22-0, 21 KO) also reached this stage of the tournament in dominant style, taking care of Dmitry Kudryashov in just two rounds. These two powerhouse hitters are also able to take a punch, so I don’t see this one finishing early. It may even go the full 12 rounds, with Gassiev coming out on top.

Carson Jones (+195) vs. Ted Cheeseman (-255)

  • When: Saturday, February 3
  • Record: Jones 40-12-3 / 12-0-0
  • KOs: Jones 53% / Cheeseman 67%
  • Boxing Betting Odds: Jones +195 / Cheeseman -255
It’s experience versus youth in this 10-round Super Welterweight bout at the O2 Arena in London. Ted Cheeseman is just 22 years old, but he has already shown that he is a real handful, winning all 12 of his previous bouts, 8 of which came by KO. He will be up against a veteran fighter in Carson Jones, who has had 57 fights in a stellar professional career. 40 of those fights ended in victory, with 30 coming by KO. Ted Cheeseman is the Boxing Betting favorite against Carson Jones. Jones really has nothing left to prove at this point but could certainly show that there is some gas left in the tank with a win over the young up and comer. If Cheeseman wins this one, he will almost certainly have a title fight on the horizon, so it’s all to play for here. This is another one that might well go the distance, which swings things in the favor of the younger Cheeseman.

Isaac Chamberlain (+160) vs. Lawrence Okolie (-185)

  • When: Saturday, February 3
  • Record: Chamberlain 9-0-0 / Okolie 9-0-0
  • KOs: Chamberlain 44% / Okolie 86%
  • Boxing Betting Odds: Chamberlain +160 / Okolie -185
If the build-up to this Cruiserweight battle in London on Saturday is anything to go by, then we are in for a real treat. There has been no love lost between these two men, with a near dust-up happening at a recent presser for this fight. Okolie only has 7 professional fights under his belt, but the way in which he won them all is eye-opening, with 6 KO’s in those fights. He is a powerful big man who is always a good bet to land the killer punch. Chamberlain will certainly be a stiffer opponent than what Okolie has been used to at this point in his career, but the concern here is the fact that Chamberlain recently dislocated his shoulder. That may prove to have an impact on the outcome, which is why I like Okolie to win.
