Analysis: I love TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin and Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott first and foremost out of this group of ‘favorites’. Elliot is big, string, fast and elusive and showed all of those skills and more as he rushed for an impressive 1,878 yards and 18 touchdowns a year ago while topping the 200-yard mark in each of his final three games to lead the Buckeyes to the 2015 National Championship.Like Elliott, Trevone Boykin also had a stupendous 2014 campaign by throwing for 3,901 yards with 33 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions. TCU’s dual-threat signal-caller also ran for 707yards and eight additional touchdowns to account for 41 touchdowns and over 4,600 yards of total offense.Next on my list of favorites is Georgia running back Nick Chubb. The now-sophomore running back is so clearly talented that he could make Bulldogs fans everywhere forget all about former star Todd Gurley in the blink of an eye. After Gurley was suspended last season for an autograph signing infraction, Chubb took over and rushed for 143 yards on 38 carries in his very first start. Chubb then rushed for 202 yards and two scores the next time out before ultimately going on to finish with 1,547 yards (second in the SEC) while averaging a stunning 7.1 yards per carry despite getting just eight starts.

  • Connor Cook (QB Michigan State) 25/1

Analysis: I like Oklahoma sophomore running back Samaje Perine a lot and believe he could challenge for this award – if Oklahoma has a solid season, meaning at least nine wins. Perine rushed for 1,713 yards and 21 touchdowns while averaging 6.5 yards per carry. UCLA junior running back Paul Perkins is another good candidate after rushing for 1,575 yards last season. Like Perine. UCLA will need to be better than average for Perkins to have a real shot.

Analysis: I genuinely believe BYU’s Taysom Hill, Baylor’s Seth Russell, and Cal’s Jared Goff will all have very legitimate chances of hoisting the 2015 Heisman Trophy award – if they can produce teams that all reach the double-digit win mark that is. All three quarterbacks play in explosive offensive systems that generate points aplenty and myriad opportunities to make Heisman Trophy highlight-reel plays. Last but not least, I believe that, if Wisconsin can reach the 10-win mark in new head coach Paul Crhyst’s first season, junior running back Corey Clement is a player that could stun everyone in the Heisman voting though he’s not a nationally-recognized candidate at this juncture.

  • Marquise Williams (QB North Carolina) 100/1
  • Jalen Hurd (RB Tennessee) 100/1
Analysis: I swear, North Carolina State quarterback Jacoby Brissett reminds me of Randall Cunningham every time I watch him play. North Carolina signal-caller Marquise Williams is a dual threat talent that could start at almost any school in the nation, but the Tar Heels would definitely need to reach the 10-win mark for him to have an opportunity. Running back Jalen Hurd is possibly the best 100/1 long shot on the board with the prized five-star recruit playing for a Tennessee Volunteers team on the rise right now.
