Written by on July 15, 2016

We have now covered some of the biggest match-ups on the opening 4 weeks of the upcoming college football season, which means it’s now time to move on to Week 5. There are some very good looking games on the schedule for this week, and we should get another step closer to see which programs are deserving of their lofty college football National Championship odds. There are some tough games ahead for the favorites in Week 5, including a particularly tricky one for last year’s runner-up, the Clemson Tigers. Let’s start things off with them, whilst also taking a look at a few of the other big games on tap for Week 5 in college football.

Analyzing The Complete 2016 NCAAF Week 5 Expert Picks

Louisville at Clemson

While the Cardinals are not expected to be in the National Championship mix this season, they are still a team that cannot be overlooked. They certainly gave Clemson Tigers all that they could handle when they met last season. It was the Tigers who came away with a tight 20-17 win in that one, and they will probably gladly take the same sort of result this year, too. This looks to be one of the better games on the schedule for Week 5.

Wisconsin at Michigan

A great match-up that could well decide who stays alive in the playoff race, and who falls out of it. Wisconsin were a very solid 10-3 last season, which included going a perfect 4-0 on the road. Michigan were something of a surprise last year, as they made a dramatic improvement under Jim Harbaugh. The feeling is that they will take another big step forward this season, and this may well be that game that proves whether they are indeed for real or not.

Oklahoma at TCU

If this game proves to be as exciting as the meeting between these two was last season, then we are in for a real treat. It was the Sooners who came away with a 30-29 win at home in that one, and they can expect another tough go of it when they have to go on the road this time around. Oklahoma are getting a lot of pre-season love right now, and a win here might just prove that it is indeed justified.

North Carolina at Florida State

The Tar Heels made it all the way to the ACC Championship Game last season, losing 45-37 in a heartbreaker against Clemson. It’s no real surprise that North Carolina are among the favorites coming into this season, and they will have a stiff test on their hands against a Florida State Seminoles team that figures to be a little stronger this season. This game will go a long way towards deciding which of these two teams will be appearing in the conference final at the end of the season.
