NCAA Football: Alabama vs Miami Betting Analysis

The last time the Miami Hurricanes and Alabama Crimson Tide met, it was in the 1993 National Championship game. Almost 30 years later, these two ranked opponents will meet in Week 1 of the 2021 college football season in an all-important matchup. The 14th-ranked Hurricanes will travel to #1 Alabama’s home away from home, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta to take on the Tide. This is the site of the SEC Championship game every year, a game in which Alabama has had a lot of success. Let’s take a look at the upcoming match between Alabama and Miami so you can get ready to bet against their NCAAF odds.

Alabama Crimson Tide at Miami: College Football Betting Preview

Miami Hurricanes Preview

When you think of Miami, the first name that comes to mind is D’Eriq King. The talented signal caller returns this season after a torn ACL that sidelined him towards the tail end of last year. King will lead a talented offensive group that should be able to put up some points. King is a smart quarterback, and won’t make many mistakes. He’ll be behind a very good offensive line that will have their hands full in this one.

Miami’s defense has been their issue over the past couple of seasons. Even though Manny Diaz has a defensive background, the Miami Hurricanes defense has let them down in big games. Diaz will be taking over the defensive play calling this season, so we’ll see how things change. Even though Miami returns many starters on defense, this was a team that gave up over 770 yards in a loss to North Carolina last season. If their returning starters have improved, and the new additions can help, Diaz should have an improved squad.

Miami returns 19 starters from last year’s team. We’ll see if this group is ready for the challenge.

Alabama Crimson Tide Preview

The Crimson Tide hasn’t lost a season opener since 2001. Even though Nick Saban’s squad lost a lot of key pieces from last year’s team, the Tide never has to rebuild, they just reload. The offense will have a new look this season, as not only did many players graduate or move on to the NFL, but they’ll also have new guidance.

Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian left for the Texas job and has been replaced by former New England Patriots OC, Penn State, and Houston Texans head coach, Bill O’Brien.

O’Brien will have a new signal-caller in Bryce Young. Young is one of the top, young dual-threat quarterbacks in the country. He will have a strong backfield with a lot of depth, one of the top offensive lines in the country, and a stable full of athletic wide receivers.

While the Alabama offense has garnered the most attention over the past few seasons, the defense should take center stage this year. The Alabama linebacking corps could be the best unit in the country. All of the starters are NFL prospects, and they’ll have a very good line in front of them, and a secondary that is second to none behind them

Prediction

These two teams have played 17 times, with Alabama winning 14 of those 17 matchups. After this one, we think that Alabama will have beaten Miami 15 times. Alabama is an 18.5 point favorite, and we see them covering that number. The Tide will be rollin’ at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta
