BIG 10 Most Anticipated Conference Betting Matches

Written by on August 17, 2016

The BIG 10 is a conference that spent some time out of the limelight, but that has all changed with the arrival of Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh as head coaches of Ohio State and Michigan, respectively. While 2014 was a big year for the conference, last year was considered something of a disappointment. Ohio State won it all when the playoff system was introduced, and then Michigan State represented the BIG 10 in the playoffs last season, although they were put to the sword quite emphatically by Alabama. One of the big names in the conference will almost certainly be in the mix again this season, but they will all have tough schedules to navigate in order to get thee. Let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated games and college football spreads in 2016 that will feature BIG 10 teams.

BIG 10 Most Anticipated Conference Betting Matches

Northwestern Vs Iowa – Oct 10

The Northwestern Wildcats are going to have revenge on their mind in this one, as they will be looking to make amends for the 40-10 beating they took at the hands of the Hawkeyes last season. That game proved to be the difference in the West Division, as it was Iowa who ended up taking the title and finishing the season with a 12-2 record. You get the sense that this meeting will have the same impact on the outcome of the West.

Michigan at Michigan State – Oct 29

If you had to pick just one play from last season to be the most shocking, it would have to be the Michigan State TD in the closing seconds when it looked as though they were about to lose to the Wolverines. All Michigan had to do was punt the ball away and kill the clock, but the rest, as they say, is history. It can be argued that it was that win that propelled the Spartans to the playoffs, and Michigan will be looking for this game to swing things in their favor this year.

Ohio State at Michigan State – Nov 19

This is the stage of the season where the division titles in the BIG 10 are going to be decided, and this is the game that could very well settle the East. Urban Meyer has put together a ridiculous 38-0 record against the other teams in the BIG 10, but his Buckeyes are just 2-2 versus Michigan State during that same stretch. If Meyer wants to get his team back into the playoffs, which is a record he is going to have to improve on.

Michigan at Ohio State – Nov 26

Let’s assume for a moment that the Buckeyes can find a way past the Spartans in the aforementioned game. You would imagine that a win there would mean celebration time, but that game is followed just 7 days later with a game against Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines. The general consensus is that I will be one of these two who represent the Big 10 in the playoffs, making this match-up a whole lot more than just a great coaching duel.
