NCAA Football Bowl Betting Predictions Update: Orange, Citrus, Rose, Sugar Matches

We have, over the past several weeks, been gazing into the old crystal ball to see if we could figure out some of the bigger bowl game matchups. There is no need to guess now, though, as all the games are set, which means that the only thing left to predict is the final score and how to wager on these games. We are going to try and touch on as many games in bowl season as possible, but for the purposes of this piece, our focus is on some of the bigger games that are coming our way. These are the games where the big boys are coming out to play, which could make predictions a little bit tougher, but we are going to go ahead and see if we can’t pick some College Football Bowl Betting winners, so let’s get right to it.

Orange Bowl, Citrus Bowl, Rose Bowl, and Sugar Bowl Betting Picks and Predictions | College Football Bowl Season

Orange Bowl – Tennessee Volunteers Vs Clemson Tigers – December 30

For a minute, it looked as though the Tennessee Volunteers might be about to challenge for the SEC East Division crown, but when they faced Georgia, it became clear that there is still some work to be done. Still, this is their first time in a New Year’s Six game in the playoff era, so it’s a step forward. For Clemson, this season might be considered a backward step, but they are still coming into this game as a 6 ½ point favorite, with the point total set at 64. I think we get a bit of a shootout in this one, which is why I like the OVER.

Citrus Bowl – LSU Tigers Vs Purdue Boilermakers – January 2

It’s not often that Alabama doesn’t win the SEC West, so LSU have to feel a little good about knocking them off. That said, they will want to close the season out on a better note than the drubbing they took in the SEC Conference Championship Game. The same rules apply for Purdue, who were battered by Michigan in their conference championship. LSU is favored by 10 ½, with the point total set at 58 ½. That spread seems a little on the high side for me, as I like Purdue to keep it closer.

Rose Bowl – Utah Utes Vs Penn State Nittany Lions – January 2

This is the 2nd straight year that Utah will be in the Rose Bowl, while it will be the first appearance for Penn State in the last 6 years. Utah comes into this one riding high as the PAC-12 Conference Champion and will be looking to put an exclamation point on what has been a fantastic season. They are favored by 2 ½, with the point total set at 52. I think Utah does enough to win and cover here.

Sugar Bowl – Alabama Crimson Tide Vs Kansas State Wildcats – December 31

This is the first time in the college football playoff era that neither Clemson nor Alabama has been in the postseason. Alabama will be looking to get something out of what has to be considered a disappointing season, but they will have a tough matchup against the Big 12 Champion Kansas State Wildcats. Alabama is a slender 3-point favorite, with the O/U set at 54. A close one here, but I think the Crimson Tide wins and covers.
